The late 80s to early 90s had the coolest hair cut styles. Back then there was a strong dance vibe in Hip Hop. You'll see more dancing in rap videos from 1986 to 1992. Look up "Dance For Me" by Queen Latifah, from 1989. Also Dj's were a bigger thing in the music. Look up "Show'em Hell" by the Tuff Crew. They were from Philly. Sampling was big with the music back. Sampling added more instrument sounds to the music. You don't hear as much sampling in today's rap. I guess sampling is more expensive now.
