There is actually an earlier version of Persuasion that was a mini series from the 70's/80's. It's here on You Tube and honestly even with the fact it's clearly made then, the fact we are given so much more of the story from the book makes it my favourite of the adaptations. I love much of 95' version but ending scene of them on the boat standing side by side with a gap between them barely looking at each other just bothers me more and more each time I see it. I mean they've been separated from each other for so many years and they do clearly b live each other and after he's shared his heart and love for her in the letter and that's the ending we get. It seems incredibly anticlimactic.
