As much as I enjoy this and understand the basics of it. Nothing said here has any geopolitical context. The geopolitical context of massive spikes in inflation in individual countries economies is just as important as the economics itself. Steve is an expert historical economist and one of the few economists who is criticising economics for its failure as a “discipline “, however he doesn’t think about how “economics “ has been used as a geopolitical tool to destroy the social fabric of societies that try to abandon the “Washington consensus “ that has its roots in the economic theories of the neoliberal economics of the Chicago school.

Hedonic use calculations are useless. We have no choice in whether or not we by a more advanced version, it is just the norm as a result I have a mobile phone that is way more advanced than the technology that was used in the NASA space program of the seventies. The fact that I don’t need or use it to its full potential does not mean it is useful to me on a greater scale. I use it to do what I need it to do and nothing more!

Modelling the economy as anything other then a dynamic system is obviously a failure. If we model the economy as a dynamic system is that system more predictable and if it is can we make social policy in order to control it? After all the “economic system “ is a human construct. Can we construct an economic system that works for all?

I just got a bug recently for the first time in over thirty years (it wasn’t covid) the worst I’ve ever had in my life (although the fever wasn’t high) unlike anything I’ve ever experienced and within 7 hours my natural immunity had killed the bug whereas everybody else who’ve got all kinds of vaccinations in them needed days lol

If Cohen is trying to make a new Amazon, he would still need a fulltime distributer so who is lowest on the chain when it comes to distributers?? Because that's what he would need to compete with Amazon, without a logistical platform, Amazon sure as shit won't help them take them down. BUT maybe he ultimately wants to sell this "new" group to Amazon for a HUGE payday in the long term??
