Sold it today and shipped it off to New Jersey. In the shack I have an HW-16, the first ham radio I ever owned, a pair of Drake Twins, and a Hammarlund SP600 JX-17. Going from a buy/restore/hold guy to a pick. clean, do minor repair guy has been a lot of fun.. except half the radios I pick I want to keep, and have to force myself to sell them as I swore myself off collecting :)

Hello Alan, Procedure to set bias is in manual 1st paragraph under transmitter tuning... Disconnect microphone, meter switch to IC, mode to SSB, mic gain to 0, Lever switch to Operate- ckeck bias current, should be 60ma. Adjust accordingly w/ bias pot on rear.. Good Luck w/the T-1's. I have recapped a few. Relatively easy. Don't foget C55 and C40.

@@97Boston Thanks. The issue with this one is that rotation of the bias pot does not change the meter reading. Five years ago I’d have it apart on the bench, now I am just a picker/flipper. I got tired of sitting in my basement hunched over a magnifier light, solder smoke in my eyes 😀 Sold my collection of 170 radios, spend my time outdoors driving around, talking to people, and helping liquidate estates. Packing and shipping heavy radios is good excersize. I don’t make a lot of money doing it, but I take radios out of closets, basements, and garages and into the hands of people who will love them. Thanks for the comment!

I got the same one, really decent it's their lower end es version of the cdp c89es (has a metal platter and copper top plate) i bought one of those today to fix up. That one weights around 19lbs rhe ca9es just a hair under that. Doesn't take away the ca9es is a beauty. You also have alot of programming options on it. I'd strongly advise to get the oem remote. They look fantastic too, i also have a sony xa20es, the sony cdp101 , and the monster 60lbs weighing sony scd777es

What a great looking radio! What's interesting to me are the two lighter brown strips of wood across the front of the radio. I have a Zenith 5C319 AM/SW radio (vintage 1939) with a wide strip of the same wood trim on the front although it goes down the side. Love those old tube radios!

It is a beauty isn't it? Picked this from an 85 year old lady who was downsizing, they had owned it for many many years. I started collecting radios around 2000, at one point had 55 of them, have gone to numerous radio auctions, hamfests, etc and this is the first Pilot I have ever seen. Did you notice the dials that look like little ships wheels? so cool...

Hi I just restored the same radio, I,m just Learning, The Radio when done sounded great, I put it o the shelf, Plugged it in after 4 month, I had no sound, I sent my signal generator, And my audio transformer went bad, Did you restore the radio you have, and if so Any chance, you know what the ohms are for transformer, and speaker, My schematic tells me nothing.thanks

I think for CW (and SSB) you need to have the PROD & BFO switches in the up positions.
