Tanduay Rhum in the Philippines is the worst rum ever. It's funny because their slogan is, "Tanduay The Number One Rum". It tastes disgusting.

I discovered Plantation Rum which is only a decade or so old. They age it in Cognac casks in France. Double aged, and claim its the Old World Rum taste, the kind that pirates and plantation owners would drink. I like Plantation Dark, which isnt dark at all. I wish I could find any other Old School rums, Any Ideas anyone??? I ve also heard about Jamaican Rum

Not sure what happened to my previous reply. Anyway, for sure you can distill a spirit from fermented sugar beet but you cannot call it rum. Certainly not in the two largest rum markets in the world USA and EU or in any WIRSPA Caribbean member nation. Research USA TTB definition of rum and also look for EU regulation 2019/787 and go to Annex 1.

0:27 Isn't ABV Alcohol by volume? If so, then it's really confusing. Do you mean proof? I've read on Wiki that proof nearly 2 times ABV.
@EtoRom3 жыл бұрын
Look, he meant that the rum could be distilled up to 95% in the column still and bottled at 40% or more. In fact most of the rums are blends of the «heavy rum» distilled at 70-85% ABV and «light rum» distilled at 85-95% ABV. Then distillate is reduced with water to 60-65% ABV and goes to the casks for raging. Then it is reduced again with water to 40-43% ABV for bottling. Of course there are some «strength from the cask» releases with 50-60% ABV.

@@EtoRom if you don’t mind telling me why can’t it be distilled at more than 95% alcohol and then reduced with water..What is the difference?

Why didn’t you give credit to the slaves who created rum? The slaves created something great from the waste they were provided, as the usual case with many soul food dishes. Also the origin of rum is actually from the island of Nevis. Please give facts when telling the history. Don’t whitewash the actual history. If it’s about certifying expertise about rum it’s critical to get the foundation correct.
@secretamericayoutubechanne2961 Жыл бұрын
Its interesting your theory. Perhaps they made a clandestine form of rum, but they wouldnt have the proper means. But yer right, some of those enslaved were master black smiths, horse groomers, builders, cooks, etc. Perhaps do your own short youtube video. Provide photos, research
