Mark Eagan, I will never get over the sound of a sleek Pedulla and your fingers. Loved your work on SO RED, THE ROSE with Arcadia in 84/85. Peacr.

I saw Mark live twice with the Pat Metheny Group. Once in 1979 and again in 1981. Not just a great bass player but a wonderful composer too. I love the sound so much of a fretless bass I actually bought one for the bass players in my my band to use. I don't even play bass.

Wonder if Steve rodby could play the bass like that jaco could

Not a knock against Mark in any way, but Rodby could probably play Jaco just fine. But why would you want to? There was only one Jaco, and a lot that try to sound like him.

@@oystertoadfish1149i loved pmg and all the bass players , I thought Mark and Danny gottlieb were the most naturally talented for pmg with lyle . Great days gone now

@@ianroberts3948 I saw PMG (1981) before the Offramp album came out . They played songs off the album and Mark and Danny were on the tour with Nana. When the actual album was released, Danny was on it, but not Mark. The next tour I saw (First Circle) was the first time I saw Rodby and new drummer, Wertico. I was really surprised because I loved the White and American Garage albums. I’ve heard some minor snipes over the years (Rodby can play double bass), and Gottlieb saying that Pat even wrote his cymbal parts…no freedom. Pat has said that he was the bandleader and it was his group. That being said, Egan and Gottlieb were iconic and the part of the reason we all paid attention. Pat never hired any slouch players, but I think he knew where he wanted to go and who could help him get there. Of course, Lyle was an equal…never a doubt.
