I need more music like this. I already know Duvet, The OG Boogie Pop OP, Kiri, and the Texhnolyze Outro are kind similar in vibe.

Right now it's 19:38, in a rainy winter evening. I'm at the bus, on my way to a commercial area full of fancy buildings and night lights that never go out. This sultry yet melancholic song fits the mood too well...

This music perfectly captures the charm of 90's anime such as this show. Something about the convergence of technology and human melancholy against an urban backdrop. With the subtle threat of faceless mega-corporations seeping in at the seams.

I missed out on seeing this show back in the fansubbing days, and I'm just watching it now for the first time. I'm almost at the end and feeling a bit disappointed. It's interesting, but I feel it doesn't quite live up to the potential of its premise. But this opening music is actually my favorite part about the show. It has such a "90s anime" vibe to it.

Im 70 years old. This tune In the Night is in 2021 So Badd Azz ahead of its time and Timeless. Beautifully haunting today as 1994. I viewed Key: The Metal Idol March 2021. Amazing marvelous excellent, artistic synthesizing so much of tradition and technology and focusing that on a young girl. Magnificent!!!!

I honestly consider this one of the most underrated anime of all time. It's a hundred times better than stuff like Ghost In The Shell , Evangelion , Cowboy Bebop and other stuff from that era of a slightly similar taste people rave on about. Serial Experiments Lain is quite similar but that's one I see get talked about quite a lot and honestly Key is debatably a bit better.

@@tobylanglois3698 I… am not so sure. I've watched Evangelion, SEL and some parts of GiTS as well as Key The Metal Idol. Key is one of my favourite animes, especially for the vibe, art style, soundtrack and story wise of course but on the other hand Evangelion, was objectively better in most ways; SEL is super unique but for me it was also quite boring. GiTS is a different pair of shoes, for me it's more of a criminal “novel” (especially S.A.C) so I can not compare it to Key. All things considered Key The Metal Idol is very good yet underrated show. It's a story one of a kind and the realisation is decent. Is it objectively the best one out of the shows you and I stated above? I'm not so sure about that.
@tobylanglois36982 жыл бұрын
@@Kcabs10 I rebuke terms like " objectively best or objectively better " for at the end of the day these are always merely opinions and opinions can never be fact. Evangelion is one of the most overrated pieces of fiction of all time and most of the stuff Anno put in simply " because it sounded cool at the time " and I'm quoting him on that. People act like it's this brilliant end all be all anime because it sprinkles in pseudo intellectualism with mellow drama and a cast full of people so mentally deranged even most psyche ward patients would find them irritating to listen to or tolerate for more than 10 minutes. It gets a pass because it's a 90s anime that was many people's first mecha experience ( though it is technically not even a mecha ) and was the first anime they watched that tried to sound all deep. How many of it's fans enjoy the fanservice and want to boink the three females Rei , Asuka and Misato certainly helps it stay overhyped by the typical anime fans who've not seen older or more well written works that either paved the way for it or did everything it did better. In a lotta ways Evangelion is like the Dragon Ball of mecha and psychological anime. It's nowhere near as brilliant as it's fanbase claims but that doesn't stop the wank. Now all of this being said I do consider Evangelion to be a work of many merits. It is indeed genuinely interesting and it's the kind of work you can go back and watch and often notice new things. For as hateful as most of it's cast is they do intrigue us and it makes for an interesting story for much of the anime. However it's ideals such as hedgehog's dilemma and other typical overused platitudes that exist because people simple aren't mature enough to selflessly love other people hinder it and offer an escape to the viewer for them to tell themselves " It's ok I'm alone because I can never understand anyone and they can never understand me. It's everyone else's fault! They won't listen etc! No wait I have to love myself first then I can love others right? " This moral of loving oneself is actually beautiful but the problem is by the end of the film the end of evangelion it's so tacked on it has little to no meaning. Worst of all however is that at the very end in spite of everything Shinji shows he STILL hasn't grown. When Shinji meets Asuka again he chokes her in anger. Shinji had spent the last hour or so going through self reflection and supposed spiritual emotional growth and the first thing he does is attack someone who he earlier decided to give another chance. Asuka caresses his cheek in order to test him and see if he gives her the same reaction he always would , which is to break down crying and feel remorse. Just as Asuka expected , Shinji as always shows the weakness in his heart and breaks down crying. Asuka disgusted yet again says " I'll feel sick " or " how disgusting. " Through all of his supposed growth at the very end Shinji has shown he's the same person who chose to make third impact happen because " nobody wan'ts me ... so they can all just die! " Shinj is everything that's wrong with humanity and when given the chance to grow he claims he's become a better person but in the next breath shows he hasn't changed. Shinji achieved NOTHING and he deserves to be alone at the end. Asuka's final rebuking of Shinji was the greatest part of the movie. The problem is no one understands this and Eva is seen as this masterpiece with such a happy ending where Shinji learns to love himself and be all lovey dovey with Asuka. The fanbase is the ultimate problem as with nearly every piece of fiction. The reason I say Eva is overrated is because of it's fanbases inability to realize the true weight of what Shinji Ikari is and how he represents some of the worst humanity has to offer in his neuroticism , selfishness , self pity , self loathing and misguided rage. Shinji needs to love himself before he can love others yet deep down he will never be able to love anyone else if they hurt him and therefore he can never fully love himself or anyone. Everyone has the issues Shinji has but the difference is we can move past them .... at the very end Shinji couldn't and ends up coming across as one of the most hateful loathsome weak characters in fiction. Shinji represents the evil these problems can create in us if we refuse to move past them. Shinji is lost in his neuroticism , selfishness , self pity , and misguided anger and as long as he cannot move past it he will be truly utterly ALONE.
