So odd how memory works. I was raised Mormon but attended an Episcopalian school because it was a great school. We all took turns being altar boys regardless of religion and I was in the shower this AM and started humming 'and one was killed by a fierce wild beast' for the first time in 40 years and Googled it and here I am watching this, immediately transported back to 8th grade and tapping my toes and thinking 'this is a good song!' Thanks for sharing it. Good music knows no time or belief limits, it just impacts you on a spiritual/emotional level...

I remember singing this song in Sunday school and in the choir. The song shows that saints of God are those who love and follow Christ. Christ said you are my disciples if you do as I command and keep my Father's commandments

That commandment of "Love one another as I have loved you" " If you love one another people will know that you are my disciples." We need this now with all the unrest in the United States since George Floyd's murder.

Lovely version with a faster tempo than usual, but really enjoyable to listen to. The trumpet descant in the final verse was rather special too!

Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace goodwill toward men. We praise Thee, we bless Thee, we worship Thee. We glorify Thee, we give thanks to Thee for Thy great glory. O Lord God, Heavenly King, God the Father Almighty. O Lord, the only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, that takes away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takes away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. Thou that sits at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us. For Thou only art holy, Thou only art the Lord. Thou only O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Thank you, faculty of Holy Redeemer, in light of several of my friends in CA and OR, I'm likely inspired to trek into WA to check out Holy Communion in Kenmore. Your Liturgy impressed me as spirit-filled and transformative. I reside in the "other Washington" on east coast. I hope that you sustain the energy of drawing people together.

Very inspiring, and very nostalgic for me. This was the first hymn I can recall learning in Sunday school at St. Matthews Parish in Pacific Palisades, California (about 1966). Canon Kenneth Worthington Cary was our rector.

not very dignified to suit Purist, For many years this was the offetory at our Church in Western Springs, IL. Children were dismissed for Sunday school. Even 30 years later, I knew that this hymn was important to my daughter. It always brings a tear to my eye.

Just after reviewing your wonderful performance of "I Sing a Song of the Saints of God," I was again blown away by this additional hymn, and would like to add a few more comments. The choir's individual singing by the men and women sections in this hymn highlights just how fine your singers are, and the insight of the choirmaster. The ability of the trumpeter to artfully improvise was also impressive. And a couple production notes: the fine cinematography (sharp, well framed, making an intimate stage, and letting the abundance of light illuminate the right side of the film as if the performance was lit by Heaven) was brilliant. The sound was also excellent for an internet clip. So kudos to all involved; I just wish I were located on the left coast so I could experience your church directly. If the six minutes or so of these videos are representative, you have a vibrant and uplifting church.

I think this is one of the finest performances of a hymn I've ever heard. The organist's phrasing, articulation, and registration are wonderful. The small choir is outstanding, and the whole performance is radiant with energy and faith. The trumpet soloist is just right, with a perfect balance with the organ. Your church should be very proud: this is what inspiring choir performances are all about! I have this marked as a favorite and play it frequently for friends and fellow believers! God bless . . .

+highcastle1 Thank you for your kind comments. However, this was not a choir anthem. Instead, it was the choir and organist leading a hymn that the entire congregation sang.

+Church of the Redeemer Yes, understand: I didn't think it was a choir anthem, that's just another reason why it is so impressive.
