I am amazed how people take a boutique instrument or any instrument and play it over a belt buckle or even studded belt . Even the metal rivets from jeans will scar an instrument . You really respect that bass ! A work of art .

Just get a new one and wear it out yourself, why fake it?
@dbo5142 жыл бұрын
It takes about 30 years to wear in a bass like this, and almost impossible to do for anyone not gigging regularly.

Surprising to me how passionate people are about the whole relic thing. Personally, I’d prefer a bass without the pre-ageing (so that it can age naturally), but I do not care what someone else wants. And I can understand the appeal of a relic. As someone else already stated, it takes a looooong time for a bass to age like that (unless you don’t take any care of it). Also old basses just look cooler, but are often way over-priced.

How do yo think the output/volume compares to a P bass?
@jayericswaim3 жыл бұрын
I think a typical Fender Precision from that era has a stronger output than the Gibson. I have owned 3 different Gibson Ripper basses and 60 Fender Precisions from that Era and like the Fender better. But there some uses for a Ripper for me but not on a stage. More in recording situations for a different bass tone.

To answer you question, it is a great playing and sounding bass. It is almost new condition. My problem with the bass was it's weight. 12 lbs was too heavy. I now own a 1978 Fender Precision Bass thats Black with maple neck and it weight 9.5 lbs.

Ok. I saw that this exact one is for sale on reverb. It’s a pretty clean looking bass. I was wondering What do you think of how it played? Why did you end up selling it? I’m thinking about buying it.
