@@SaKuLification They stay attached all of the time. Downwind someone trims the jib from the back of the boat from the downwind sheet which is a 1:1. Some boats use a 2:1.

Very envious. When I started sailing in 1971 I was in awe of the eighteens on Sydney Harbour but I have never been lucky enough to sail on one. Obviously different safety requirements in Europe as not a PFD in sight.

None of the sailors wear buoyancy aid's due to the chance of entrapment under the wings and sails etc. If you are unlucky enough to get caught underneath something you can then swim down and out to escape, rather than being forced up into the netting/ sails!

This is an example of how to attach a pulley to one of our mouting points using rope. In this specific application the pulley is being attached to a boom through which a rope will run to control the sail that is mounted on the boom.

Hey guys. Thanks for the material. Can this be used on a sail to make a Cunningham or reefing cringle a bit more attachable?. Do they come in those sizes? I don’t find that lines running through the sails cringles are friendly to use, especially on bigger boats. Additionally I have a thimble topic to look at and you guys sell what seems to be the best priced thimbles I have seen yet. I’m yet to order some to see what they are like but they look good from the images and spec. The thimble topic is this. Use thimbles as blocks. We have newish materials available so the friction and wearing out of the center line can be dramatically reduced. The suggestion is that a soft shackle holds the thimble but going through the center. Possibly with the little bit of line sheathing to protect it. The running line is then passed around the outside of the thimble. Because it’s on the outside, the friction loading is reduced dramatically compared to running it through the middle. Considering the price of your thimbles and the load these thimbles can take, this really could become a sailors go to block unless extra silky smooth running is needed.
@AllenBrothersfittingsLtd2 жыл бұрын
No problem Frederick! We havent tried using the Pad-Tii on a sail. Firstly, you would need to make sure the Pad-Tii is nice and tight in the crinkle and then work out a way to stop it from coming undone, the flapping of a sail is likely to shake the Pad-Tii loose. (We recommend the Pad-Tii is held in place with a sealant or bonding agent when fixed to the hull of a boat.) Regarding High Load Thimbles, check out our guide to using them here - www.allenbrothers.co.uk/2021/11/18/high-load-thimbles-why-when-where/ High load thimbles are not a direct replacement for every block and pulley on the boat. Simply put, they are LOW friction rings and not NO friction rings. The way you suggest rigging the high load thimble does not nessercerly reduce friction. As there is more contact with the rope and the thimble surface. Feel free to contact us via email if you have any more questions :)

Is the mast retention line done correctly? With so much slack the mast could slide out after a capsize and break the deck or mast step tube as you right the boat. I know the cunningham and outhaul would probably prevent it but what's the point of mast retention line with 15cm slack?
@AllenBrothersfittingsLtd4 жыл бұрын
Good question! The mast retention line can be adjusted so that it is as tight as you need it to be. This is just a simple guide on how to attach it, but we do recommend its as tight as you can get it. this will then prevent what you mention.

After few time, I finally set this up, but how do I put it on the boat, what is the two vang keys for? Thank You
@AllenBrothersfittingsLtd4 жыл бұрын
Some sailors like to have both of the vang keys attached to the top block so that if one was to break during a race they could quickly insert the other into the boom bracket. The lower vang unit attaches to the mast bracket by removing the bolt and nut and reinserting. You can see the Vang unit installed in the following video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXiXnH5td6itabM We also have some tips about Laser hardware on our site www.allenbrothers.co.uk/about-us/tuning-and-technical/laser-fittings-guide/
