Curious As the breath is exhaling is there a feeling of trying to keep the ribcage high and expanded as the lower abdomen collapses and flattens? And trying to prevent the collapsing abdomen to have a continuous flow of air? I feel tension in that part of the body while preventing tension in the air column and throat ... am I wrong in that understanding and if so where?
@geraldthompsonct19 күн бұрын
@@keithspicer9374 When you say tension, do you mean a tightened, constricted, closed feeling or a suspended, open feeling? And where exactly are you having this feeling? At the base of the ribs? In the lower abdomen? If some muscles feel rigid, try moving this part of your body in a relaxed, fluid motion while doing the exercise. If a muscle is in constant motion, it is impossible to constrict it. You can also send me a short video is you like, showing me exactly what you mean. I could give you more precise advice that way. You can send me a message on Instagram, Facebook or per Email. [email protected] I also offer online lessons and coaching, in case you are interested in those as well.

Try the note on different vowels. Often the voice works better on a specific vowel. Once you find your vowel, try connecting this vowel to others without changing the tonal color. How to tell if I am a countertenor?
@geraldthompsonct7 ай бұрын
There are many factors in determining your vocal fach (if you could sing as a countertenor): your usable vocal range, ease in singing in your head voice, comfortable tessitura, vocal color, ect. The best way is to find a teacher your trust. If you are interested in Online Lessons, feel free to write me. [email protected]

@@MistressKatari Are you able to sing this note during your vocal warm ups? You may also try this exercise. kzbin.infoUgkxDxQYBA0Xx6zaAc5-8BS6B3SPOAQsBkWu?si=2u6O3Vn4onlBXHGP I find it helpful to first remove the consonants from the phrase and sing an „u“ on the bottom note and an „a“ on the top note with a glissando connecting the two notes. This ensures you are connecting the breath between the notes. Once you add back the consonants, on the word Petersberg, try singing an „uh“ instead of the „er“, sing the „b“ in on the bottom note instead of placing it on the top note and sing an „a“ on the top note. Petuhsbaaag. If this works, you can then just round the lips a bit on the two modified vowels, but leave the opened head resonance space. I hope this helps.

Wow! Gerald, your exercises are just what my dramatic tenor voice needs! Warming up head notes cannot be minimized and I need to perfect head voice access and flexibility within the octave.
