Hello, I would like to sponsor you with a brand-new smart irrigation controller next spring. The controller's app allows you to complete all watering settings and automatically skip watering according to the weather. Are you interested?
I tried the Toro roller on my Super Recycler. I did not notice any stripes after using it but I was mowing St. Augustine in the side and back yard. The height of cut was almost 4 inches but it would need to be much higher to get the stiff St. Augustine blades to lay over. It did help a little on the Zoysia but any of the reel mowers do a much better job! Did you have to fill the Ego roller with sand or another heavy filler?
@dwaynesworldlawnАй бұрын
No filling required. It comes ready to go. I appreciate the comment and support!!! Thanks Mark 👍🏻
@jimmymiller4732Ай бұрын
Does having the roller installed make your 3 point turn more difficult when turning the mower around? Envious of your green lawn this time of the year as the only thing green in my yard ATM is poa. Goooo Dawgs!

Turning is not an issue. There is a slight issue when backing up i would say. Not that it’s not possible just more resistance. I appreciate the compliment Jimmy!!!

Hi, I wonder if the idech rotary scissors will attach to the new line trimmer head with the carbon shaft and self winding mechanism? thanks.
@dwaynesworldlawnАй бұрын
It will not. You need to use an ego with a multi head. The reason for this is due to the straight shaft trimmers they have a drive by wire vs the steal internal shaft that is needed for the rotary scissors. Hope this help. I did address the video linked below. kzbin.info/www/bejne/raWXZIBonLtjps0si=30lb5Qlo1G1ToRm9

Hi Dwayne, why did you not just get Ego’s rotocut? It is the same as the idech rotary scissors and a lot cheaper too!
@dwaynesworldlawnАй бұрын
They were not available at the time i purchased the idech. At that time, the ego rotary scissors were only available in other countries. I did get a deal at the time but yes agree it would have been a better value to go with the ego. Thanks for the comment!!!! 👍🏻

Something I see very often in American turf videos is leggy turf that is very tall. To make it look great it really needs to be groomed regularly, usually every second or third cut. Grooming is not verticutting, scarifying or dethatching either.

I can see your point. In cases where Bermuda is cut to high it does look leggy. I do appreciate the feedback and appreciate the support!!!

Put out my Perrenial Rye on Columbus day and mowed today with the Ryobi. Definitely better stripes with the Mclane! I had some spots that were thin and I figured it was my error. I used certainty and celsius a couple weeks before seeding. I used my pro plugger and just flipped my plugs and put a bit of seed down. Figure in the spring the bermuda will fill in just fine.
@dwaynesworldlawn2 ай бұрын
Just be sure to spray out the rye. Celcius is a great option. 👍🏻
@geomark88512 ай бұрын
Love that stripe action! Bet you also enjoyed whipping that McLane around so easily! My McLane is a 25 inch GR series and, just like you said, it is so easy to maneuver compared to the Catalyst. I can't even imagine how easy a 20 inch would be! I cut a diamond pattern and use the McLane for the initial pass and then follow it up with the Catalyst for the long, alternate passes which minimizes the turns with the Catalyst. I think the Catalyst does leave a slightly more refined look so that is another reason I finish with it. I'm waiting to see how you use the other cartridge(s) on the Bermuda before I try the verticutter on the Zoysia which still hasn't totally recovered from the height of cut reset that I had to do with the Catalyst due to its maximum 1.25 inch cut. I may have to wait for Spring.
@dwaynesworldlawn2 ай бұрын
Hopefully i can put out some new videos on the cartridges for the Catalyst. Stay tuned… As far as ease of turning the Mclane maybe one of the best in the game. Believe or not the 25 and 20 are about the same as it relates to ease of flipping around. Appreciate the comment Mark!!!!

You sneaky guy! I never guessed that you picked up a 7 blade WITH the 10. Nice stripe action showing on your lawn now. Mine hasn't been mowed in over a week (I've been out of town) and it is recovering nicely from my height-of-cut reset. Time to get out and fire the Catalyst up. I like to change that first oil fill after about 5 hours and this should finish it up. Fortunately, they sent me 2 quarts of oil with the Catalyst so I've got plenty.
@dwaynesworldlawn2 ай бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response Mark. I didn’t intend on buying a 7 blade or at least not right now but figured “what the hell” and decided to go for it. It is the beauty of the catalyst is that you can have the best of both worlds. As always i really appreciate and enjoy reading your comments and hope you are able to close out the growing season with a bang. Party on 🎉

Will it work on the ego IQ line instead of the multi-head?
@dwaynesworldlawn2 ай бұрын
I do not believe so. Most of the ego string trimmers have a drive by wire system and will not work with rotary scissors. The rotary scissors require a shafted trimmer

Is there a relief grind on your reel? I have heard that backlapping only works good if you a relief grind.
@dwaynesworldlawn2 ай бұрын
When you compare a spin grind vs relief grind, you want a relief grind if you plan to backlap. Backlapping a spun grind reel is not recommend. People have mentioned that a spin grind is stronger and will hold and edge longer but the down side is not being able to backlap. Hope this helps 👍🏻

ProPEAT has a 10-0-10 that you can get from Home Depot online. They have a few options. A couple of them are greens grade; I don't think that one is, but I haven't tried it. I usually get the 13-5-8, which is greens grade. Looking forward to seeing how the overseed turns out and future Catalyst content as a fellow Catalyst owner.

Hi Dwayne, beautiful mower. How does it compare to the Revolution outside of the cartridge system? Which has the better build quality and is changing the belt a headache for the Catalyst? It’s narrowed to those 2. Thanks!
@dwaynesworldlawn2 ай бұрын
Both mowers will most likely have the same quality of cut. As far as durability, i cannot say as i do not own a revolution and have only had my catalyst for a few weeks now. With that said both company are great and will stand behind there product if you have any issues. Reel rollers did do a great job on delivering on an all chain driven system for the Revolution. It also allows for backlapping without the removal of the chain. The chains also standard vs metric making replacement easy to obtain. The cal trimmer belts are simple to replace. The main belt that comes off the motor is a gator belt and is very durable and really should not need to be replaced very often if at all. The belts are a better option then chain on a cartridge system as quick belt removal is needed as a chain removal will take more time. It’s a really hard comparison as it’s unfair to either mower because of the cartridge system. With that said if you want a cartridge system cal trimmer is the one to go with. Hope this helps and appreciate the comment question 👍🏻

And what height are you gonna be mowing the rye and with what (reel/rotary). Can we expect winter weeds doing this. Thanks I’m thinking of doing this
@dwaynesworldlawn3 ай бұрын
Probably about 3/4 to 1 inch. Rye can tolerate shorter but i think it looks best the 3/4 inch range. Winter weeds can come up but i don’t really worry too much as i am to kill it off in spring either way and would need to use a herbicide them. If i had a lot of weeds the best option is a herbicide that is safe for both Bermuda and cool season grass such as a 3 way. In regards to rotary or reel, reel will give you a cleaner look but a rotary worlds well and i would probably use if mowing at 1.5 inches or taller. The big thing is you want to spray it out when the Bermuda starts to come out of dormancy and you will have a slower green up then if you didn’t overseed.
@randyvelarde74483 ай бұрын
Hey Dwayne what types of weeds do we expect to have for next year. Is it hard to kill out the perennial rye. Thx for the vid!
@dwaynesworldlawn3 ай бұрын
The best thing to use to kill rye is either celcius or certainty. Both are rated to kill rye grass. If you have poa or sedges in your lawn along with other weed i would combine the two. If i could just choose one i would choose celcius. Need to use full rate.

If you don't have some rebar to use - a Gearwrench 13mm 3/8 drive deep socket on 2 long extensions works really well. The 13mm nut fitting end passes through the sleeve but the shoulder of the socket drive end rests on the edge of the sleeve, making it easy to drive the sleeve out. My new sleeves also had one that was a hand press fit so I saved that for the outside roller that is the last to fit onto the axle. Your instructions were spot on and a big help!

Welcome back to the crispy walk-behind edger world. That Tru Cut is a beauty! Did you say how old it is and I missed it? I will never part with my 40 year old Trail Mate edger! It has two sealed bearings supporting the blade shaft and they are still rolling smoothly even after 40 years without being re-greased. It is powered by a 2.5 B&S flat head with a pulsajet carburetor. I keep expecting the diaphragm to fail but it just keeps on ticking! It has 2 front wheels like your old McLane so it is a little harder to edge the curved sidewalks than your new Tru Cut. I just lift the back wheels off of the ground a little and pivot around the curves balanced on the front wheels. My driveway is long and the radius is much lower so I leave the back wheels down when I edge it. I used a HIPA carburetor to repair my 5 HP B&S OHV engine on my Chipper/Shredder. It needed partial choke to remain running, so I cleaned and rebuilt the OEM carburetor but it still ran lean. I couldn't figure out what I did wrong so I bought the HIPA carburetor. It worked smoothly without any adjustment so I can heartily second your recommendation!
