Sorry but the term slab needs to be taken back from the corporate companies! This is not a “slab” ! A slab is cyclops,shark island, avalanche, and anything thicker than it is wide! Steep breaking waves are not slabs stop calling them so.

Man you are a humble guy " edge of ability " no you are fully able and deserve your spot out there man. On being humble even more, I don't think many vlog surfers are even if they put that persona on, just allot of unessesary stuff in their vids. Not you, you just talk surf! Awesome man cheers. Ps I get what you mean about the wave filling in the bay but on a minor level on this particular reef I use to surf, and you got this surge feel.
@MattBromleySurf4 ай бұрын
@@nicktrueman224 really appreciate the words Nick! Yeah Jaws does stuff like a small heavy reef but scaled up to 60ft

@MattBromleySurf that has to be the creepiest thing I have heard about jaws. And to feel that would make me shit my pants lol. What a beast of a wave, but seeing it it looks so surfable unlike allot of other big wave spots if you know what I mean? Thanks man, that is something nobody has ever mentioned, hats off to you.

@MattBromleySurf l can no longer surf due to a illness so I watch crazy people like you etc lol. But I am not bitter. I have had some of the funnest waves and seen beautiful things. Keep ripping man, I loved the story you told about getting pounded at indicators at L Bay. N
@averlyrolf79704 ай бұрын
Excellent storytelling. I like the line: "All the factors were going up, and I am trying to get down." Given the wave you were on, that line has a lot of meaning.

@@averlyrolf7970 yeah that’s always the battle in critical waves, to get down the wave face. But jaws in particular!

@@MattBromleySurf For the record, you made that wave. You stuck the drop and made it down the face. You never fell off. You got blasted off, but that's not the same as falling off. Insane surfing!

Ive had something similar in hurricane 🌀 season, 10-15-20-30 foot set for about 30-45 min set. After caught one paddling in and was like "what was that?"
@nicktrueman2245 ай бұрын
Your nuts, what does it feel like riding the faces of huge waves? More the jaws mavericks, todos style waves? I don't know if you answer questions but would be cool to know. I can imagine a bit of chop on the face would make things interesting or a strong offshore would be really testing on these things. Cheers
@antpoo5 ай бұрын
What about ‘indicators’. When Nias is too crowded. Super dangerous reef after the earthquake. I caught 8 footer, I was so scared. I survived thd pummelling but as I was paddling back out the next set drained all the water and I was completely dry stuck on the reef about 10 seconds before the wave obliterated me. Two days later my entire left quad was black from bruise among others, but thankful I did not hit my head.
