Hey brother. Love your style. Does your es-335 have a varitone or out of phase PUPs for that Freddie king tone? How would you mic it for that 60s sound?
@JulesBelmont1Ай бұрын
Thank you man. No out of phase. I do set the pickup heights with the middle position in mind though. So that any chance in vol of either pickup really sweetens or brightens the sound. As far as mics go I would put something like a 57 or other dynamic mic in front of the speaker and absolutely get a room mic going. All those old tones had room bleed and it really helps them come alive when listening.

I read that someone sells a guitar like that. Can it be amplified? By the way i love both this tune and the way you play it; and the sound is perfect.

What are the settings? I didn't learn shit from this
@bonk2II3 ай бұрын
He literally listed the settings in the description. Amp settings: Volume: 10, Treble: 7, Bass: 10, Reverb: 4. The rest of the tone comes from the Teles Tone and Volume knobs. Roy never used pedals, just plugged directly into a BF/SF reverb amp with all the knobs dimed, and just softened or brightened his tone with the tone knob, and controlled sensitivity, dynamics and output with his volume knob. Roy was the type of dude that would pull out his cable from the guitar and be like “you wanna know what I have on my pedalboard? THIS(the cable) is my pedalboard.” 😂

Lloyd, please write a book. Steve Fishell's book is great, but it only focuses on Buddy. You have so much to say you could write THE book on pedal steel history.

Listen to Lloyd on just about all of Faron Youngs albums ,to be able to create so many styles and sound different on each one is a talent that not many players have that ability. Sure Pete drake had a style,as does Paul Franklin, but Lloyd is still number one.

I wonder what would have happened ( 12:06 ) if Lloyd had played on Lynn Andersons Rose Garden instead of Pete Drake and Pete Drake had played on Tammy's DIVORCE instead of Lloyd ? Personally I think it was fate and the right steel player got the right session on both of those songs .
