Hello! First I must say ..this bird looks pretty nice....I bought this plane from second hand, the ex owner and builder didnt fly with him... I put saito 6.5cc 4 stroke on it,now have about 2150grams ..i hope this engine will be enough for this bird..But i wonder ask something else..where is the right-ideal CG and what is the "pitch" of elevator and ailerons? Big Thanx for any answer or info!! Greeting from Slovenia, Klemen !

Hi buddy, Unfortunately I have sold this model. From what I can remember the c of g is 75mm from leading edge of wing. I can't remember the the elevator/aileron travels but I did put 30% expo on both. Elevator trim was needed for the maiden flight as it wanted to climb with level trim. Hope all goes well.
@@garyflint1965 maiden flight today ..successful :) It was pretty windy,but everythings OK ..seee ya ..here is the vid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3aVqaepi9Nql8U

Hi Gary, thanks for the vid & info, where did you end up with the C of G as I have one. Using Speky Safe helps hand launch with mine + no thrust vectoring. Mine pitches up if the THR is chopped, IMO to do with the cheat holes and thrust tube angle.
@garyflint19652 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, my c of g is exactly to the manual so 20mm back from where the main wing intersects the fuselage. I have to wait for a descent headwind before flying mine, this makes the hand launch easy. I find that most edf jets with a large wing area pitch up when the throttle is chopped, they do settle after a couple of seconds though.

@@garyflint1965 Thanks for the info and I think I'll strip the unwanted TV servos out to lose as much weight as possible. See if I can get to the 2250 after the carbon in the wing install.

I love the look of the de Havilland twin-boom planes like the Venom and Vampire. I have a Durafly Vampire that's a bit of a handful to get off the ground, but flies pretty well once up. When it hits it's expiration date, I may upgrade to something like the Freewing Venom.
@garyflint19653 жыл бұрын
I had the Vampire and as you say could be a handful getting it airborne. I found a decent headwind helped. This Venom is totally the opposite with more than enough power and sounds fantastic.

Hello and thank you for the video. How much line do you have and how much bungee cord? and how strong is the pull to launch the model safely? i have the same device and want to launch a F9F Panther (Freewing) with it. Regards from Germany
@garyflint19653 жыл бұрын
I have 1.7 meters of bungee cord, the line from the end of the bungee to the pedal is 1 meter and the line from the end of the bungee to the aircraft is 0.6 meters. I stretch the bungee 7-8 meters measured from the end of the launcher, be sure to use a decent sized peg for the bungee as the nail supplied would cause serious injury. As the Panther is very similar to the Mig my placing the hook 205mm from the fuselage nose tip should be more or less the same. One other thing to note is the bungee cord supplied will perish over time so check it after a couple of months of use. On launching be prepared for the aircraft to roll to the left, hope this helps and good luck.

@@garyflint1965 thanks a lot Gary. I can´t believe that the line is so short?

I just started building mine, not a big fan of the split half construction. I am also setting it up as a belly lander, no gear saves a ton of weight. Good flying, I was expecting a stall at the end but she just flopped, beautiful.
@garyflint19654 жыл бұрын
Not installing the gear is the right way to go, as the power system that comes with it is just not good enough. If you are using stock servos I would change them for something more reliable, a couple mine have had glitches. She will stall in a slow turn so be sure to have some speed on in the turns, landing as you see isn't an issue. Good luck with your build, if you need any assistance get back in touch.

Good Job on an under engineered model. Unfortunately LX has done nothing to improve their models for the last ten years. That's why reputable retailers wont touch them. If Freewing or FMS were to get their hands on the rights to make this model I would buy one in a second. Notice how hard it is to just fly comfortably level? Notice LX still uses the crappy landing gear even though there have been great improvements on RC landing gear in the last few years. Notice the landing gear is glued directly to the foam? Notice how tight your battery bay and interior is? Why buy a PNP model and have to replace things like the retracts and junk servos. Oh well, it does look nice hanging from the ceiling...…..
