If you can't pay perhaps you can trade something or help the shaman with something to keep a balance of energy. It can also be possible to not pay at all if you are in a real crisis . But balance is good for the world...

Zar is not a dance. I don't care what Reda Troupe dance instructor or Cairo Belly Dance festival teacher told you. This is a spiritual tradition and way of life. If you are not a part of that community, then you don't know anything about it. It's not something you can make a cute choreography of or do for fun. Would you take somebody seriously if they told you they were going to dance the Pentecostal, or do a Holy Ghost choreography? No. You'd look at them like they were stupid right? Because even if you're not a charismatic Christian, you'd instinctively know that was disrespectful. Well, this is no different. Like a Pentecostal or Evangelical service, it's a spiritual devotion and movement may spontaneously happen as part of the service. Same thing here. So can we please stop this nonsense and respect other people's traditions? Especially when you take into consideration how badly marginalized these traditions are by the mainstream religious establishments, both Muslim and Christians, and how marginalized the communities are who practice these traditions.

I agree. Zar is not a choreographed dance. In sweden we call them dances but they are so much more.

@@tekladrakfrende But do they alsovrealize that this is not something for them to participate in? Do they realize that this is a valid spiritual tradition that has rules, etiquate and structure and you can't just make yourself a pseudo New Age/Wiccan alter and throw on an ayoub and say you're doing a Zar? My point is, no one would throw on a Gregorian chant and say they're doing a Catholic. Or throw on some Gospel music and say they're doing a Baptist or Pentacostal or say they're doing Holy Ghost dance. That's the point. People don't get it. When Mahmoud Redda created his troupe he created theatrical numbers based on folkloric themes. He never claimed to be doing authentic folklore. But American Belly Dance teachers back in the 70s started trying to hook into this and doing choreographies. They went all across Europe teaching seminars. The same thing applies to Guedra, but that's another topic. Unfortunately, the Egyptians are no better. They're constantly looking for the hot new thing to teach so they have a new product to sell. They're not from those communities and know nothing about them. If they did, they wouldn't be doing it and giving false information in the process. Understand that these traditions, especially in Egypt now, come from extremely margianalized communities. Because of that, they don't share info with outsiders. They tell them what they want to hear because they have to protect themselves and their traditions. There are groups like Mazaher who perform the songs and that is a way of preservation, but they are sharing on their terms. It's not our olace to go out there and make it seem like anybody can do this as ling as they have the right respectful attitude.

@@TRUTHTEACHER2007I fully understand and agree with everything you say. And yet I find myself desperately longing and searching for a way to regain what was lost/suppressed/destroyed in our culture many thousand years ago..... ceremonial trance-inducing dance and music to heal the fractured mind and go beyond.... What is the way in your opinion? We can not start from cero and make something up. We need to learn from specialists, from cultures that have preserved the ancient wisdom and knowledge. I fully agree that ancient spiritual traditions shouldn't end up on a stage for entertainment or in a one time workshop where the teacher doesn't know what they are doing in is simply immitating some movements.... But what shall we do if we really sincerely feel the need to learn.... There aren't many authentic sources left on the planet.... We need this knowledge...

@@saraswatishaktimayi Well, here's the thing. You have to realize that what went on in the temples was segregated to only a handful of elites, not the general public. We were never meant to see those tomb paintings and temple art. The common people had their own traditions and practices. There are still a lot of folk spiritual traditions that survive in Egypt. The problem is they're found in the rural areas and in the poor urban areas of Egypt. Egypt is an extremely class segregated society, as i was in the past. There are Zikr at every moulid and Bar is still done, but underground. How many Egyptians have respect for these communities if they're not from them? This is why these Egyptian workshop teacher don't know what the hell they're talking about. They're not from those communities. Therefore, they don't realize that what Redda created were theatrical tableaux and not meant to be mistaken for the real thing. So, you could partake of these traditions. But that would mean joining those communities and if you're a middle or Upper class Egyptian, how would you be esteemed by your peers if they knew you did that? Some things exist where they are and not meant for public display or consumption and that's okay.

You are completely right. So many foreigners are invading many aspects of Egyptian and arab culture, completely disrespecting it because some instructor told them it was okay. I'm not someone that throws around the word cultural appropriation, but I think it applies here.

When you take away something there is a hole left. The hole must be filled otherwise something moves in again. Often the shaman do a soulretrieval at the same time and fill the hole with you again. If that is not possible the hole can be filled with light and love but that is a temporary solusion.

What kind of intrusion blocks off all your emotions? I was already in a low place feeling empty and depressed, then something took over me which tormented me mentally and I haven't been able to find peace now for two months. Having a very hard time focusing and can't connect to my gifts. Eventually I went to a healer who removed several demons. I felt them leave but they returned with about a day as the healer did not perform a soul retrieval or patch up my aura. Currently I am looking for someone who can do this right.

@@dangterrat5684 Every group migrated from Africa so it's not stupid to say that the original arab speakers were black especially since the proto semitic languages started in East Africa. Even arabs will tell you themselves that the original arabs were black.
