I have a 2004 S80 2.5T awd. With 103,000 miles. Beautiful car cosmetically. A few issues mechanically though. Nothing to crazy bad. Just spent $1k on routine maintenance like oil change, brake fluid flush, transmission fluid flush. Early next year it will time to replace the timing belt and water pump. It’s the first luxury European car I’ve getting owned. I like it for now but with maintenance costs this high I know I won’t have this Volvo for more than a few years. Older Volvo’s are quite expensive to maintain. I’m not a person with deep pockets.

You’re not wrong. The current Ford Escape is garbage. I bought one in August 2023, Active trim and 1.5L 3-cylinder engine. The SYNC 4 system is awful. I experienced everything you said in this video. That gauge cluster is horrible. I like having my Trip info display, but when I did that, it pushed the speedometer off center and looks weird. It was actually messing with my center of vision so I had to turn that off. The transmission I had was bad too. Going up and downshifting to 1st gear the vehicle would lunge forward several times. Then there’s the engine. They redesigned that engine for the EGR, and ruined it. Like I said I bought mine in August 2023, and got rid of it in April 2024. 8 months of ownership. Of those 8 months, it sat 4 months at the Ford garage waiting for a new cylinder head. The thing overheated on me after 1 month of ownership and put 2,080 miles on it. Happened each time I got on the gas and revved the engine to 4-5K RPM. Glad I got rid of it and got a Bronco Sport. I have Analog gauges, the SYNC 3 system is way better, doesn’t crash. Engine and transmission are way better as they are the older design of the 3-cylinder engine.

Last 30 years I've bought 7 mint loaded low mile Grand Marquis. The most dependable luxury car out there. I drive to 7 different States to buy one. Mostly Park Lane Editions and also a rare CTE "Custom Tasca Edition". Mostly from elderly people that don't drive no more or who have past away "Estate Sale". The mint rare editions are getting real hard to find now as time passes.

Purchased a 2301i after this review. Everything you stated in the review was correct. The car is way smoother than it has any right to be for how well it handles. It also gets very impressive fuel economy, especially on the highway. It's not as fast as the m240 or m2 but honestly, how fast can you go on public roads? I would argue that neither of those cars would get down a back road much much faster or with a bigger grin on the drivers face. I see people with msport package complaining about the stiff ride, and wanting to change out the run flats etc. its not the tires, its the suspension that makes them so stiff. it you aren't tracking you dont need mport suspension. Even the base seats without adjustable lumbar support are fantastic and have enough bolstering to hold you in while hustling the car. All without being too narrow for a larger driver. BMW absolutely nailed this car. On top of that, I was in an M3 competition recently and the interior is very similar. Some better materials here and there but it's not that far off. It's the exact same layout......The regular 230i non msoprt is the one to have. One area i will disagree with the review is lack of steering feel. It's by no means an air cooled porche for steering....but it does have feel. The road tecture is transmitted trough the wheel....its a bit muted yes....but its there. Great review! You helped me purchase this car.

Aside from my other comment I wonder if this was more for the OLDER style of 7 series buyer, The ones who drove them but rarely used the back seat. The 7 series used to have the most spartan back seat out of all of the luxury full size sedans and was the least flashy looking. I wonder if that previous client got to old and stopped buying cars leading to them trying to compete more with the S class and Rolls buyers who would actually have a chauffeur, because I mean if you buy it to drive it, who cares what is in the back

Family member owns a 2024 X3 M40i. This new model is absolutely worse looking on the exterior, and the interior looks far less luxurious. The exterior design is one that to me, does not convey anything close to nimbleness or sportiness. Even if a car is heavy, or is big, it shouldn't LOOK heavy, this vehicle looks heavy and slow, even if it actually is fast.

Now instead of the legacy we have the VA/VB WRX and Levorg. They are about the same size as 1st to 4th gen legacies. Unfortunately Subaru lost interest in making rally cars with the STI hatch. They just made consumer vehicles, and pumped their old drivetrains into them. Slap on a pink badge and there you go. I have a 2020 model Levorg. It's a great wagon. Essentially a WRX with more space in the back. But hard to believe it comes from the same line as a GC8 Impreza.
