Cruel King has been nerfed, but still is powerful, definitely the best in slot and worth getting as soon as you can, like, legit, he slays. Dunno about speedruning the game, but for an average player, he'll shorten a boss fight by a good 3 turns and tank a good 5 hits before dieing. Unfortunately, resummoning is no longer a possibility.
