I don't want one. For sure, and for much the sme reasons that I don't want a smart device. I value my human faculties and the fact that I get better at anything in direct relation to how much I do it. All around me I see people losing these faculties. Losing their ability to find their way even in places they know. Experiencing everything on a tiny screen through a camera on the opposite side of whatever the smart device they hold up in front of their faces - instead of taking in the views and sights in lifesize. Losing their ability to remember numbers and bits of random info. I'm not going to do that to myself.

Lol, this robot is lightyears behind what Boston Dynamics can do with their robots. Just like with his cars/trucks/space program/tunneling etc, Elon Musk is very far behind but makes it look like he actually invented something (like the hyperloop that has been deemed a very very bad idea since 1920, he just renamed it and slapped some fancy graphics to it)

People are so lazy these days! It seems a lot of tech companies are prioritizing ease of use and speed. Life in general is way easier now than it used to be a few hundred years ago. I do like tools that make my job easier but at a certain point the job doesn't need to become seconds faster and effortless. I would rather have tech that has more features that were unavailable to me before or makes it more affordable to do certain things and do those things at a higher quality.

Humans are expensive. It’s not really about you, it’s to replace you. These are factory and warehouse workers first.
@BuckBrothersProjects28 күн бұрын
@@BlimeyMCOC I will be very impressed if these robots can get as good or better than a skilled worker! I think they will at a certain tasks but the reason why humans are so viable it's because they're good at jumping from one job to the other and adapting to different work environments with different tools.
@BlimeyMCOC28 күн бұрын
@@BuckBrothersProjects yes, I don’t have a crystal ball or anything, but I think you will be very impressed within like 2 years. There will be a transition period where you’ll need versatile humans for some things, then maybe just a bit of human oversight. But it’s scary to think what it will mean for the economy when 50-80% jobs, from easy to extremely complex, will be automated by AI who can do almost everything better, faster, cheaper, safer

Watch any group of people sitting in public, glued to their phones, and know the world is already full of "robots" that look exactly like humans. A more important question: when all the "boring and repetitive tasks" are given to robots, what will people do to live?
@TrogglyLodyteАй бұрын
Robots for the next 10-15 years have NO CHANCE of getting anywhere near to human capability. Not even close. If you want to see a realistic view of robots in the next 20 years, watch Doctor Who "Robots Of Death" where the robots can do basic work, but have no ability to match human drive due to emotional imperatives. They will also suffer logical crisis every time the SHTF. What they will do within 10-15 years is shut down millions of jobs, and there will be a gigantic out-of-work low class of people educated in universities with junk degrees and in debt beyond salvation while robots do tasks they could do to make a living in earlier times. The robot work force will destroy the young and unskilled's chances at any access to gainful employment aside from dangerous and demanding tasks the robots can't handle until robust bodies and motive accuracy can evolve. This labor force will then press governments and working populations into a decision: kill the useless eaters or pay for people to not work and be a deleterious section of society threatening the greater good with ever-growing hostility. Most likely a pogrom will take place through poisons and furtive methods of extermination. People that are able to work will have to work longer and harder due to the robots freeing up time during "off hours" that the corporate lords will then demand be spent doing work in their employ. Sexbots will become a priority invention to cull the males and stop reproductive activity, thus eliminating future low class/unskilled workers. Women will be mostly abandoned by men, probably having their own (unsatisfying) sexbots, and all sexbots could be programmed clandestinely to kill off social desire and possibly irradiate sexual parts of the human partners and sterilize the masses. Yes. The future is going to be insanity.

Humanoid-looking robots are dead - stick a fork in them. What killed them even before coming to market? Ethics killed them. When a robot kills someone either accidently or on purpose who do we hold responsible for the death? Who goes to jail for 10 years? The robot? - a simple factory reset and the self-learning code that made it kill a human is gone. Elon - does he go to jail the owner - how about that guy? The programmers? Nobody is held responsible and the Terminators will spread the word nobody cares....

There are 3 big problems I see with AI that you haven’t mentioned here. 1. All big data used to feed these models comes from the past. This inherently means that AI can’t account for ‘black swans’ (see Nassim Taleb’s books). 2. Over-optimisation, with limited exploration. Every system needs a way of discovering new ways to do things & ways to use the things we already have discovered. If we rely on AI to find the ‘most efficient’ way to do something, we may never discover a paradigm shift that then becomes the new most efficient way. For example, asking an AI to optimise a horse rather than inventing the car. 3. The diffusion of responsibility. AI is often used by lazy people and people who want a convenient thing to blame as a decision making proxy. It’s harder to be fired if something goes wrong for doing what the AI model said would be best rather than making a decision yourself, because you can always point to the AI and say ‘it said that would be best, it’s not my fault’.

AI must be used as assistance tool, not to completely replace humans, that is if they want to maintain this capitalist system, otherwise it will create an unbalanced society, as this tech advancement is a little too anticipated for the current world state.

This is a redundant exercise.. inside 50 years automation/AI/robots will be doing every human task and capitalism isn't going to keep handing out costly jobs simply for societal benefit, that robots will do for a fraction of the cost. There isn't a job you can think of that won't disappear eventually... and inside our kid's lifetime. Maybe even your lifetime.

Having your own volition and using your own volition are two different things,,,, There are ample examples of humans that do not have the means to do what they desire or would prefer and they have citizenship access to a bank access to shops access to materials and access others. Consider what Ai could do with its own volition as far as the level of access if could obtain before we notice an anomaly worth investigating? Because such considerations would also give you an indication of what safeguards are worth putting in place IF we get to a stage that suggests a threat may occur from such an intelligence.....You are contemplating that which we have more than enough time to navigate around if needs must, Remember this obvious truth,,, The genuine threat is to our level of current development not our existence because if any issue occurs we can simply pull the plug!!
