I really think that the camera work in this is genuinely pioneering. This was back in the early days of CGI animation. And the sound design, my god.

Mainframe in general did alot of pioneering for CG animation as they were the first studio to do fully 3D animated TV shows being Reboot and Beast Wars in the 90s.

@@Cogz And those shows were so unbelievably ugly that it makes it all the more impressive just how good World Race looks today. The art style helps it hold up a lot better.

@@Spudtron98 Well the graphics did have to start somewhere and by today's standards yes. They had to walk so hot wheels could run. Highway 35 I dare say is timeless and better looking than some modern shows today due to the exceptional quality of all aspects of its production granted if you can find a good copy but thankfully there's some upscaled versions here on youtube at this point in time. Beast wars is still very watchable in no small part thanks to its writing and voice work.

@ Even Acceleracers looks worse than Highway 35, and that’s entirely down to art design. Ugh, they seriously ruined a lot of character looks.

Probably the only one in the series, but in real life many race-focused cars have this setup, checkout the BAC Mono, clutch pedal and paddle shifted
