It would be nice to see more console quality or pc level games on phones. Especially the high end phones. Only a few games that push the hardware at all is far and few between.

1:02 you mean Activision Blizzard & ZeniMax Media. Fallout and the Elder scrolls were made by Bethesda Softworks (ZeniMax Media owned), then Microsoft purchased. Activision had nothing to do with Fallout or the Elder scrolls.

you make some good points, but i don't agree with your conclusion that laptops are a status symbol. if you're an office worker who just works at one desk all year round, maybe. although generally people are furnished computers by their companies. but a lot of jobs require people to move around a lot. if i didn't have my laptop, i would constantly be telling people i can't do what they're asking until hours later, if not the next day. and many times it's a task that must be done immediately.

Funny to see how often some people "upgrade" their tech. I too upgraded my PC a few months ago. The old CPU I was using since 2014 still did it's job fine if not for Windows requiring some TP Module that didn't exist back then. Now I have a fancy new CPU and all that comes with that, and honestly..... Theres not much of a difference in daily usage. It doesn't boot faster, programs don't feel any different. So... What was the point again? Thanks Windows. 😂

Planned obsolescence, I use the exact same apps (excel, word, acrobat, autocad, etc) as I did 7 years ago when I first bought my last laptop... hardware is still the same, apps still only do what they did back then but I had to "upgrade" because they were running like crap... now my new £1400 laptop runs those same apps as good as my old laptop did 7 years ago.

I'm going with a Framework 16" laptop with AMD for my next purchase (just waiting for the next gen AMD chips with good Neural processing). A bit more expensive on the the frontend, but everything, including the main board are easily upgradeable. With my current Lenovo I thought I had whipped the durability/longevity problem, but no, the wireless card crapped out and the usb-c charge port failed. The usb-c is built into the main board, so it doesn't make sense to change a main board for a stupid charge port problem.

Every 2 years? You all are buying some very underpowered laptops. I still use my 2015 Dell Inspiron 7559: gen 6 i7 processor, 16GB of DDR3L ram, Nvidia GeForce 960M graphics card, 15" 1080p IPS screen, and backlit keyboard. Also: runs windows 10 just fine. I just recently bought a new laptop so I'm soon to retire this one. But a nearly 10 year old laptop was able to serve my needs (including gaming: this thing can do the latest tomb raider games on high graphics settings with 30fps) all this time. Mac users must be pretty wasteful if they buy a new laptop every 2 years.

Is it wild that I had a Toshiba A665 from 2012 to 2022? i7, 8GB, blueray drive? I did have a desktop I kept upgrading the GPU, but now I barely use it after getting a refurbished ThinkPad P52 for under $700. I use a HP Universal dock and plug my thinkpad right in. A desktop replacement that I can also take to the kitchen table. I do have an ergonomic stand for the laptop, though.

I don't agree with your point of view. Nobody perceive laptop as status symbol like cars, yachts od private jets. Girls can easily afford on the same laptops like mens, so you will not make impression on anybody by your new trendy laptop... There are another important constraints of using deskops: - lack of rentals of monitors and keyboards in every city, they should be integrated with delivery service and work by app like - weight of workstation computers + all monitors, and external devices, when you traveling is really problematic - work remotely on your desktop can be frustrating because it is hard to relay on networks in many new places People are just more mobile than earlier. Even if laptop spends 80% in the same place, when you will move to another palce with it 50 times during all year, you will see that cost of additional luggage in airplane, taking bolt instead of bike, time for all cables connections will be higher than laptop cost. I definitely prefer desktops btw and would like to use them but it means that i would have to buy many houses and desktops around the world to do it comfortable. Transport of your computer internationally without you is extremely expensive.

Here in the United States there are voices calling for more transit and an improved mix of modes for the street and for streetscapes more friendly for walkers and cyclists. A few improvements have been made, not enough to make much of a difference but enough to trigger the Conservative think tanks snowflakes. So we have propaganda mills like Prager U decrying an imaginary war on cars. Imagine if we had a real war on cars in the US these conservative snowflakes would melt down!

I really like this video; it offers a unique perspective on how hectic life and traffic can be in a big city like Bogotá. It is a nice way to reflect on life in big cities. My favorite parts include: • The statement, ‘We are in a war.’ • The grandmother’s unfortunate situation. 🥲 • The discussions about pollution, Uber, and the new phenomenon of the 10-minute rule.
