I'm not a lighting TD but I was advised to place AO directly on top of Diffuse and/or cast shadow passes as they are really one the same. Not above specular/reflection passes.

Hello, I'd like to inquire about HDRP and its use of DirectX. As far as my understanding goes, HDRP utilizes DirectX, particularly for ray tracing technology. However, I've encountered an issue when exporting normals as DirectX; they appear inverted. While considering a switch to OpenGL and manually inverting them, I'm aware that DirectX is well-suited for Windows and ray tracing. I've attempted to change the API in Unity, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to resolve the problem. My question is whether there's a way to use normal maps as DirectX in Unity without encountering this inversion issue, or if there's an alternative approach to address this matter. Your guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Not sure if this will work, but generally when a normally map is inverted, it's an issue with the Y (green) channel. It just needs to be inverted. If you click on the normal map in the assets folder then in the Outliner, there is a checkbox that says 'Flip Green Channel'. That might fix the issue..

instead of a regular color in your shader you can use an hdr color, which gives you access to intensity, which can help with tweaking bloom all in one spot.

Yes, you should be able to open an image sequence on EXR / openEXR images in AF or other compositing software.

If you are referring to the landscape, the terrain was made with Gaia, available on the Unity Asset Store. The models were made by me. The stars are downloaded from NASA. Not one package.

Nothing in this example, but every object will have a different color. It makes for easy selections if you want to edit a single object. It can be very helpful.

Thank you, helped me with my internship. You are very good at guiding people through information and at delivering the info. Would love to see you become a bigger channel so i have some feedback; a great way to grow channels for artists is how to fix things vids. Great channel example is Amit Patpatia, his videos on issues and fixes boosted his channel greatly. Best of luck.

How do you render out a sequence e.g. 200 frames of a Z Depth Pass in Arnold? Can it even be done? Can't find a way to do it for the life of me and it's doing my head in.

It's somewhat similar. I would switch the worldsapce on the top right to Rendering. You do whatever render settings you would need for a single frame. Then, in the render settings, In the RS, for Frame/Animation, change it from single frame to name#.ext (that will be scenename#.exr, or whatever file format you save as). Then, in the Rendering workspace, go to the Render dropdown window on the top and go to 'Batch Render'. It will take the render settings you already have and start doing a batch render. It will not show you the progress, but you can see the images rendering out in the images folder of your project. Hope it helps.

Make sure you are in the HDRP, not standard or URP. The sky and some other options are unique for the high definition render pipeline
