Also the hour hand doesn't look right. The needle tip of the hour hand looks too short. It's possible whoever swapped the movement installed aftermarket hands also. Either the entire watch is fake or it's modified with aftermarket parts. I have a video on my channel that compares a fake vs authentic Seiko 5KX.

Unfortunately, if it is a fake, not much I can do. I bought the watch over 10 years ago as a work watch and never had any problems over the years I wore it at work. I do my best to avoid fakes. If I buy a watch new I don't open them (to avoid compromising the water resistance) unless something seems off.

The plate on the rotor definitely looks fake. It's probably a thin piece of metal they adhere to the rotor of a TMI NH36. Whether the whole watch is fake, not sure. Also lift angle should be set to 53 degrees. Not sure if that would make any difference in amplitude reading.

Wow, so you serviced the Dubois Dupraz chronograph module? Do you know the model of the module. Maybe it's 2020? I have a Tag Heuer quartz chrono with cal 185 that uses a DD2000 module. I imagine they are very similar except for the subdial layout. I'm worried I won't be able to find anyone to service the watch in the future. Although the cost to service would probably not be worth the value of the watch. I always wondered why I had to set the minute hand about 45 seconds fast in order for the gear train to catch up. I stumbled upon an Omega service manual for the cal 3220 after watching your video. GT-19-C-024-E-C-3220 that explains to "turn the crown forwards or backwards to set the minute hand. For the minute and small second hand to synchronise perfectly, the minute hand must be 30 to 45 seconds ahead on the desired index (this procedure is specific to the Cal. 3220). The train energy is transmitted to the hands via three wheels. When setting the time, the gearing end play must be compensated for by advancing the minute hand by 30 to 45 seconds." I finally found my answer! I've owned three of these watches and they all behaved the same way. I consider the cal 185 to maybe be the first "mechaquartz" movement. The DD module is mated to an ETA 555 quartz that ticks at 1/2 second intervals. Tag also had the cal 283 automatic using the 2982 with DD2000 module, which is probably very similar to the cal 3220 in your reduced. I'm really glad I found your channel.

It is a 2020. I did use a video someone posted on KZbin to help out. It wasn't as bad as you would expect (or I before). The options were to pay Omega $800 or $900+ to service the watch, pay $600.00+ on Ebay for a complete assembly (not options) or work on the watch myself. Springs flying off were not an issue, springs pushing other parts off were common. If you have the patience, a magnet, a demagnetizer, and time, have a ball and save some money. What I would suggest is "Remember the brass collet" and "Remember the brass collet" also make sure the module is in a secure movement holder when you press the collet down.

@@WatchesOfMark Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can find that video. I'm trying to understand how the movement power train is coupled to the module.

Yep good purchases that Trojan I like. The Seiko will be a good price also. Like the old case styles hopefully you can get them going and the movement used is easy for any parts. The crystals for the tank style cases if need replacing will be interesting to know how you go.

Nice vintage watch. What was involved modifying the crystal to get it to fit?
@WatchesOfMark
@WatchesOfMark 14 күн бұрын
The case on these Wylers have a lip for the inner dimension of the crystal, the outer dimension of the crystal needs to fit the bezel. I found a crystal that fit the inner dimension but the crystal was to thick for the bezel. I spent over one hour sanding down and polishing the outer diameter of the crystal to get the bezel to fit. If the crystal is to small the bezel will just fall off. It takes time and patience, or a lot of money to spend on more crystals.

@@WatchesOfMark yep understood, you can get caught out with costs sometimes but the end result can justify the expense….mostly. I have just dismantled a AS340 and the screw for the ratchet wheel that screws into the barrel arbor snapped. Now up for a doner movement.
