i've started listening to phil elverum only since last year. i feel like i have lost so much in my life. like just listen to how his emotions are coming out of his mouth this is fucking magic , what a voice ,man, i'd give all i have to see him perform. but its unlikely he'll come to europe :(

in the liner notes for the glow pt. 2 on vinyl, or at least in the reissue notes, instead of having the lyrics for this song, it has this big long poem/story about the what the song's about. i highly recommend that you find it, it's extremely worth it.
@rafaeltrindade70093 жыл бұрын
hey thank you for revealing this! i know this was written 8 years ago and i don’t know if you even use this youtube channel anymore, but could you somehow link pictures to this lyric sheet you speak of? i seem unable to find this anywhere, and i intend on giving phil good money for this record someday (and many others of his!) but cannot do so atm as i’m, besides an enamored phil elverum enthusiast, a very broke college student also haha! thanks in advance, i’d be so grateful if you’d read this and somehow find a way to show it. side question (pardon any nosiness on my part), but are you daniel johann as in the adore 1996 / salvia palth daniel johann? if so like thank you so much i love your music for years and years now, it got me through some of the roughest and most anxiety-ridden years of my life and i’m very grateful and appreciative of your art and your existence. <3

It's likely about an ex, although not explicitly stated The Glow Pt.2 is allegedly a breakup album about Khaela Maricich, of the band The Blow.
@adamboof67695 жыл бұрын
R8052509P well shit, this is old. But the Glow Part 2 is a breakup album (also the greatest breakup album ever but whatever). This being stated, the moon is about an ex girlfriend, and moon sequel is just a follow up of the same girl. The Glow Pt 2 is a masterpiece and Dawn is the follow up, where phil despite his desperate attempts is still drowning in his sadness.

@VESSEL1991 It's pretty easy. A-D for the intro then A-E-B-D after that A-E-D-E when it goes to "If anybody comes to see me.." it goes to C#m-D-A. Back to A-E-D-E then A-D for the rest of the song.

This is very good...but he should have tried to maintain what JD did with his vocals...the way the song is originally sung conjures the feelings of being a meth head... I would love to see Gibbard do some of the more less "frantic" songs, like Game Shows That Touch Our Lives, Old College Try, or something from The Sunset Tree
