Thanks for the video! It helps me a lot! I have a question. On early dropped spindles, do you put just the o-ring? Or not even the o-ring? Thanks!
@WideFive
@WideFive Жыл бұрын
Early 20mm link pins don't use the o-ring. The torsion arms mating surface is flat. There's no place for the o-ring to seat. Just shims with the Early 👍

So if you're putting the same amount of inner shims top and bottom how does that have any affect on the offset since your adding matched numbers?

Well, it doesn't, ha, ha. The factory offset is correct in that situation of 7mm offset. Any variance from that 7mm needs corrected 👍

Do the shims effect the camber of the tire? I have one wheel that is not vertical, it tilts out at the top.
@WideFive
@WideFive 2 жыл бұрын
Technically all that is built into the design of the spindle. ONLY alignment spec you can change is the toe. If someone put the wrong shim stack in there it can be off. If the link pins aren't tight and adjusted properly you could see this. More common is a bent spindle shaft or torsion arms. Check your shim stack first 👍

Do you sell 64 to 67 bus spindles? What does it take to switch 63 bus spindles to a 64.

@WideFive 3 жыл бұрын
I rarely have spindles to sell outright. '63 o my spindles would need to have the king pins changed to fit the later 22mm link pins on '64-'67 arms.

@WideFive

Yes, Early and Late have different size shafts. Different shapes too. Early has a shaft that is basically straight and takes the larger size nut. Late has a tapered shaft and takes the smaller nut.

Is it a bad practice, or do you ever wedge anything in the link pin slot, for easier removal? Or is hammering and a drift better? Awesome series! Thank you,
@WideFive
@WideFive 3 жыл бұрын
If the link pin isn't coming out it's probably because the end is mushroomed over. Best to grab a cut off wheel and grind the end down. You can get away with prying on the split in the arm, but it's not gonna give you much extra room. Just use your best judgement if you have to wedge/pry/hammer on the arm in any way 👍

How do you remove the king pins before flipping?
@WideFive
@WideFive 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Brad, thanks for watching and subbing. You'll need the factory tooling or you can make the tools needed. Those parts along with at least a 20ton press will get the job done. More importantly, you need to be sure they're pressed back together properly, so the king pins are aligned.

Yes, check out @GromBeardo I hope to have an updated video there before too long. Go ahead and slap that swingarm bolt and lever on though. You can tie your low mount into the mounting bolts for the rear mc with a bracket. Just depends on what exhaust you're running.

No I haven't made one. You need to make some tools and have at least a 20ton press. Need the correct reamers for the new bushings too. Usually it's best to have them sent off for a rebuild. You can find a lot of issues once you get them apart.
