I just initiated combat with her in the house, then had my sorcerer and Gale spam fireball while Laezel and Astarian shot her with crossbows. She never got close to the fireplace.

I used 3 smoke powder barrels with some flammable pouches, don't remember what kind, on top. Didn't even get to see her transform.

Go to her with at least LEVEL 5. It's easy because of bonus attack (fighter [Laezel]). Also remember that the clones of her have green clothes and the original red ones. Also the real Mayrina has a bigger belly (pregnant). So you always can tell which one is Auntie. Beat her below 25 HP, don't kill her, you will get a very nice offer. Mayrina can got to hell. If you manage to save Mayrina you get another benefit, but not as good as Auntie's.

theres an actual fastest way, and it involves barrels, did it yesterday and it took three turns plus she never gets to go into the cave

Cool! I actually used my rogue character to sneak, threw a bomb to reveal her position and then used an Arrow of Roaring Thunder on the ground next to her, pushing her into the chasm. I believe a merchant in the Emerald Grove has it or you can loot it in the Goblin Camp.

IMHO killing Ethel in this way is rather just a curiosity. In classic combat, Ethel is not as strong as it seems at first, just analyze why you die and how the enemy behaves during combat, then draw conclusions and use your tactics accordingly.

There are two ways: stealth mode and you stay out of sight of the enemy, and on the right side you sneak into the witch's hut. The second way allows you to bypass problems with magic doors, fights with witch slaves, etc. Going down the stairs to the swamp, look around and you will see a magic circle of mushrooms, which is a teleport to the center of this underground hut.

@@brattyx0836 I found it. There's portal through mush rooms next to grave of Maryina's husband. Next to the witch house. If you don't have an spell to recognize that there's a portal, you can access it only from inside to activate it.

actually i figured it out... you need to hide everyone in the room and send out a mage hand or summon to sacrifice itself, then when its dead ethel will just be standing there

@@paeppafpaefpafepa2 no, it's not. It's based on the initiative roll. I can get first as well. The thing is, maybe your build doesn't have any initiative bonus that's why you lose against her roll. Stack some initiative bonus using feats/equipments, being a rogue/ranger really helps

+1 Who the what the!? Free attribute? By the time I finish my first playthrough, I may forget that little piece of wisdom . I have been wandering the Underdark and forge for days it seems.
