It may 'look easy' but it is not. It is hard backbreaking work to do day in and day out to make a living. If you have what it takes (or willing to keep trying until you have accustomed your body into having what it takes) you can earn between $400 and $700 per day.

At 19:04 the guy raking looks like a guy who was raking clams in 1984 in Grant, Florida. Clams where from shoreline to shoreline in the Indian River from Titusville to Sebastian Fl for a couple years.

I clam for bait, Great south bay,LI. Lots of fun on a nice day but I wouldn't want to make a living doing this! Aside from the labor and weather, there aren't that many clams here. Great video!!

Long Island is rich in shellfishing history. Many families fed on the money from shellfishing on the north and south shore. A few baymen still out there making a living on Long Island

Hey, I started quahoging this summer mostly around rocky point i average from 12 to 30 a rake. Wondering if this is average or im doing something wrong
@nickb28063 жыл бұрын
Im from MA you on good spots I average 1 bushel ever 30 minutes - that's with an 18 tooth rake and on some of the best digging. You might not be doing anything wrong just have to get on better sets.

Where do you find the places to sell the clams?
@uniquevideopro5 жыл бұрын
There are several places on Narragansett Bay where you can just pull your boat in and sell or you can load on your truck and drive them to a buyer that would be local.

There's a reason the flooding is so bad down the bay. It is a confluence of two things. First, when the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier is active (And it was for this storm) that's a million gallons a minute sent down the bay. Second is the Pawtuxet which is the overflow basin for the Scituate Reservoir. I read 32,000 gallong a second were overflowing into the Pawtuxet from there.
