Never underestimate the ability of LA to keep the most unhealthy vehicle in the yard around while the rest of the fleet gets junked. They notoriously did this with their last duel fuel a few years back. You could tell this thing was shot lol, crazy it was still out while several vehicles in better condition were gone. All gone now of course but you’d swear it was like city policy to keep some bad vehicles around and retire good ones

Nice video ! Glad you were able to film 801 on its last days of service . Surprised they didn’t decide to get rid of it before the rest . I noticed that Jose has a pretty interesting operating style and looks like he cleans 801. He told me he polished it up a bit and looks good . That old signboard is very old school . I wish I was able to go that day but had to do something , very glad and Kevin caught it . I kinda wanted to see Jose in 852 or another diesel once 801 got retired . He’s been jumping trucks since he doesn’t have a regular one yet . Sad to see it’s now parked at Redondo junction waiting to get send across to the junkyard.

Thanks Gilbert! I agree 801 looked great with that signboard and Jose did a great job with it. Wish you could film with us that day but at least you got good footage of it before. And yes very sad that its gone now along with the rest. Thanks again Gilbert I owe you big time for helping me find this one!
