I did a few stems on my MPC and they came out fine for the most part. Definitely some bleeding. Still way beyond what we could do with low pass and high pass filters. I guess we'll see how much better it gets over time.

@ around 23:00 the direct comparison am I crazy or does the Serato sound good on the surface but then in the background you can hear it actively killing the volume and creating what sounds like a reverb warble? Its present in the drum section too, its sounds like a flanger not a reverb though my mistake. Like a metallic flanger slowly oscillating.

Once you've made a pattern the way you showed (by live-playing for example a "kick" sample), is it possible to edit the pattern at the step level e.g. delete only certain steps that play the kick? Or do I have to erase the kick sample from the whole pattern and re-record the kicks?

To me, FL Studio has the best stem separation as far as the cleanest separation of the tracks. I use that with Speedrum vst and get my chops from there. Don't get me wrong, I like both Serato and MPC stems, but for workflow, FL Studio hands down.

I see that ambient music tend to blend more sonically so when using stem seperation you get more artifacts or I should say residual sound from other stems a lot. R&B\ Soul some rock or any music that use less ambient effects or sound tend to seperate a lot better. I pretty much know how its going to turn out when I hear the track. This was a excellent comparison. I absolutely loved the knowledgable commentary along with it. Keep doing what you do. Love to see more. Thank you. 🙏🏾

What is the latency like. When you click a key on the Bluetooth controller do you hear a slight delay in hearing the sound on the Apple Vision Pro that is the biggest problem with Bluetooth generally

If you are using your Akai mpc as your DA converter in Controller mode and in Serato the MPC is still the audio interface this is not a an equal playing field because the MPC has that "thud" and "Air" in its DA(which is artificial), there needs to be another converter which is the baseline, playback is everything. Just use test tone from your computer you will hear the difference. Cubase has had stem separation for over 5 years now, you can also emphasize which stem you want to be more focused on, it can do a whole 5 minutes song in less than what Akai does for one minute song. The converters in Akai is below industry standards is accenting many frequencies to make it sound like a pro machine. It is not one. Great Video and Thank you.
@algernonfranklin3 ай бұрын
the audio is still inside the computer while in controller mode.
@dubmaverick693 ай бұрын
@@algernonfranklin yes it is but when you take it standalone the converters in the MPC will do the conversion and if in controller mode you are using another audio interface you will hear a difference. Also can time warping you do in controller mode will sound horrible in standalone because your MPC is not a match to your computers CPU. Mpc is basically a glorified midi controller.

From those examples I would pick the MPC. It wasn't even really close for me. The stems just seemed to be cleaner and kept the character a good bit better (less bleeding, filtering, phasing, etc.) They are both way better than I ever would have expected. The whole stems thing is crazy.
