I'm a fan of horror games and usually don't get scared of any of them, but I do was scared of playing Subnautica, first time went in spoilers free and at some point I was looking for resources and heard a very loud roar and in this moment I proceeded to close the game. Mostly because I have fear to the sea, but a few months ago tried it out again and could finish it, was so happy about it.

Good episode guys! I don't remember exactly which one was my first game that I was afraid to finish off because I was scared, maybe was either RE2 or Silent Hill from PS1, but I do know which one I didn't finish nowadays because of that, and it is Subnautica. Games' push my talassophobia really hard, not gonna lie I've always think of coming back and finish it, but the sensation of feeling that fear it just stressing me out pretty quick. About Echoes of Wisdom, glad Andrew enjoyed it but from what was his review I feel that they could make it better for what those series really deserved. Also, while Daniel talked about the game he played, came out to my mind Superhot too, very smart idea for a game to make it fun imo.

Hi guys, great to see you are coming back with the podcast! I'm agree with Andrew about TLOTR games on PS2, played them and remember that same feeling about it, those games were amazing and deserved being brought back at some point for new generations. As for F-Zero games, I don't remember they were as bad as you described but didn't play it enough so probably you are right. I personally think Silent Hill games are really awesome and deserved being brought back, every of them not just SH2, especially SH3 (my favourite) and SH4 The Room as for the theme of this episode c:

I agree completely. I did grow up with 2D gaming, but I agree not because of that. I agree that so called limitlessness is overwhelming. I prefer boundaries while allowing for creativity. I felt like that with Far Cry 3 & 4. You could come up with lots of creative things to do when infiltrating enemy bases, but it encouraged you to figure out the best method to handle it otherwise you would probably get yourself killed.

I kinda expect the dual screen functionality of the Switch 2 to be multi-purpose, with detachable displays, offering Wii U, DS/3DS and VR style gameplay. That way Nintendo can sell more accessories and make more money.

As for Animal Well, I've got at the same place as you, felt all the hype about it and put it on my wishlist but never played it, just watched a bit of it because I wanted to see at how the game looked but didn't want to spoil me anything, personally prefer games that are harder enough to make me feel acomplished once I finished them, but after Daniel's perspective and rating it will make me think it twice before I get to play it if I get the chance lol.

I don't expect it to have two screens. I don't expect it to fold. Those two features will increase the cost of the console. As we all know, Nintendo aims at operating in this sweet spot of being inexpensive and good. I think it's going to be extremely similar to the switch 1. With that being the case, they really need to focus on marketing it as not just a switch "pro"
@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalkАй бұрын
as much as i WISH it had the clamshell design, i dont' think it will either - but i do think they can still implement a dual screen functionality similar to the Wii U that would allow these games to be accessed on the next console.
@quas3728Ай бұрын
I was not fan of how nintendo ended 3DS for switch. 3DS was better than switch. the size was perfect for handheld (switch is too big). it had more feature like mp3 player. It had NDS integration. I'm not fan of subscription model for virtual consoles. but I discovered about modding 3ds trend in 2023 or 2024. so I'm fine with it.
@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalkАй бұрын
yeah, i never got in on the 3DS but i wish i had! seemed the perfect portable pocket device to game with - these days i’m not out and about like i used to be so i’m very happy with my switch but very much want access to the classic portable library.
@A-ID-A-MАй бұрын
The 3DS's resolution was HORRIBLE though. And it was the WORST screen to play DS games on because of the irregular pixel shape to account for the 3D screen. Even on the 2DS models, they used this same screen, so all games ultimately come out blurry and weirdly scaled. Don't get me wrong, I love my 2 3DS's and my first 3DS that I lost -- but the DSi XL was the best console in the DS line up for screen quality and playing DS games as an adult. I am so glad I went back and bought a DSi to mod and play all the OG Pokémon games on. The Switch is a much more well-rounded system. Yes, it's bigger, but the screen alone (especially in my OLED model) far surpasses anything the 3DS could ever do.
@quas3728Ай бұрын
@@A-ID-A-M of course because 3DS is dedicated handheld unlike switch. but then switch is handheld + console. so the spec is still weaker than PS4. If switch was dedicated console like Wii or Gamecube. it's easy to make the spec better than current switch.

i’m really hoping so. i would like nintendo and pokémon (gamefreak) to start recognizing that Gen Z, Millennials, and a small amount of Gen X have a kink for nostalgia, sales would skyrocket if they released older and classic remasters. Nintendo DS was so popular, and it didn’t matter if you were a boy or girl, everyone loved them. personally, i think if they don’t go in this direction, they are fucking themselves. it’s very possible because they would make an overwhelming amount of money, and i would like to think they know that already.
@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalkАй бұрын
yeah, i would have thought with the closure of the 3DS eShop closing down they would have just transitioned these titles to Switch by now, very strange they haven’t! especially considering that (to your point) you have generations of people that have dee nostalgia for these titles but you also have newer players who started their journey into Pokemon with Sword and Shield!
@MegaPineapple97Ай бұрын
I love this concept. I have been banging this drum since I saw the showcase with 1/2 Switch. It never made sense that the dock couldn't be like the NES Classic. Just a little set top box that works like a Switch but without all the power. It could still play Gameboy, GBC, NES, SNES, and maybe even N64 games through NSO. Then when the switch connects to it, either physically or digitally, you get a power boost from the handheld, allowing you to play switch games on either screen, or DS/Wii U games with the TV and the Switch as your 2nd screen. Ugh why can't this already be a thing!
@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalkАй бұрын
i. want. it. so. much. i really hope this is what Nintendo has been cooking up. i'm not gonna go into spoilers here, but recent "leaks" indicate an additional USB C port, so maybe physically connecting the Switch to the "dock" is in the cards!
@steven_loboАй бұрын
If the Switch 2 doesnt have undocked second screen possibility with the TV, I will be very disappointed. I want Nintendo Land back, actually, I want Nintendo Land 2, and I want the ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess with the possibility of play just like the WiiU, with map and inventory in my hands. This possibility makes me think that its because of that that these games were not released on the Switch 1, its because they want to show they will not need to remove these features they added on the WiiU, because it will work exactly like in the WiiU, with 2 screens.
@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalkАй бұрын
yeah, i think best case scenario Nintendo wanted to preserve the dual screen experience with some titles - and specifically for Zelda, they had so many titles on Switch already they probably weren’t pressured to get them on this gen.
@Darkmetamorphosis1Ай бұрын
Doesn't look like it will, i don't see how it could, the wiiu wouldnt even let you go 50 feet away from the base
@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalkАй бұрын
well, of course you would have to stay in proximity to the tv when you are dual screening. but when you drop down to that single screen you can step away in full portable mode since the console would be the handheld portion.
@mepds9Ай бұрын
I'm not quite understanding your request. Isn't the switch (and probably the switch 2) already the main console as well as the handheld? Is your request that the switch should be able to wirelessly transmit to the dock, so that you still get to use the switch's screen as secondary when playing on the TV?
@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalkАй бұрын
right (sorry for not being clear initially!) - the Wii U was hampered by the handheld having to be within a certain proximity of the main device. with the Switch 2, i want it to transmit to the TV via the secondary device, so it can still retain its true portability.
@mepds9Ай бұрын
@@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalk that does sound like a good way to rescue a lot of the Wii u catalogue. The dock / receiver might have to be a more sophisticated unit with it's own WiFi connection for the stream for that to work. Not sure if the stream would be able to handle the output after the dlss the switch 2 is alleged to have, but 1080p should stream okay. I'm nearly certain the twilight princess and windwaker hd versions will be on the switch / 2 eventually
@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalkАй бұрын
