How can I get the blade replacement? Any seller recommendations??

I’ve seen some cutting the blade dimensions out of a cleaver. Then drill holes to lock in the cutter.

I watch these videos and next day I'm out in my garage wiping all my tools down, organizing, spritzing with oil, etc... Good stuff.

I was thinking someone out there would have a video! You Sir, did not disappoint! I been debating on taking a pair apart and resurfacing, I have a bad habit of working in the rain and leaving my snips on the jobsite. They look 10yrs old from the rust, I hit them with penetrating oil, and did a light surface sanding using a dremel tool. I didn't disassemble these tho, kind of lazy right now and they are back to sliding freely, cool video man, thumbs up!

He didn't as far as I could tell. He didn't heat the handles before putting the grips on either.

I think we can all critisize this video till ends time.. but at least he made something inexpensive and useable.. none of he steps seemed super expensive or time consuming. So for people watching it may be a step for them to note on and maybe go out and master themselves.

I just bought an antique tobacco cutter! Mine is a different brand and I don’t have all the cool tools to restore it but hopefully I’ll be able to get some rust off with CLR or something else. Thanks for your video.

I’m planning to restore one as its also relevant to work and hobby. But getting a lathe soon, so think I’ll wait. It’s hard choosing one but I def want the RJR. Afraid of big cracks since I don’t have welding experience. But can always take it to one I guess. I could have sent a nice plug of tobacco to cut too. lol

To anyone watching this and unaware of chrome plated tools. ** WARNING….. chrome is an exceedingly dangerous substance. If you breathe in the particles (due to wire brushing or sanding) make sure you have the proper mask and the area is ventilated!! So be careful people… it can give you respiratory disease or cancer.

I recently did a couple of these, wing nuts and bolts for the blade attachment, yet to see if they are in the way, but otherwise seems like a good idea.

It was Japaning NOT PAINTED!! (Japanning gives you the texture of a thick coating that can not be duplicated by simply grabbing a can of Krylon and spray a bunch of layer. Makes a very hard durably finish!)So, do it right to say you have restore it!! What you doing is repair!!
@restorationshopfloor2702
@restorationshopfloor2702 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Japanning is an old trick basically to prevent cast iron againt rust. While it was a good trick for sure at the time, it won't be as protective as a primer and paint cover. I think they would prefer ours if they had access to. :)

Aww task force, a fairly cheap budget brand. Thanks for the video but I do wonder why bother on a cheap ratchet like this one when you could restore a old craftsman, snapon or some other higher quality brand.
