You will need a "Midi to CV" converter. You plug midi out from OT to the converter and it sends out pitch and gate CV which goes to the modular. In this case I'm using a converter called "CV.OCD" (its a little box you can't see in the video), but there are many different converters out there

Beautiful sounds ! How do you like the Chirper compare to the Benjolin ? (I saw on your previous videos) I have the Cofilter and PTDelay and really love them.
@frankie18334 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! the Chirper is awesome, similar to the Benjolin but still very different. Benjolin has the rungler circuit which goes a long way in adding to the overall playability. And it has a Bandpass filter if I remember correctly. Chirper really opens up with some added external modulation. Adding a DDSR for instance would get you a lot closer but at the same time adding a ton of functionality the Benjolin doesn't have.

one of the most creative euro videos I've ever seen! Does nano rand open/close the filter, receiving EOS from Phono?
@frankie18337 жыл бұрын
thanks! possibly yeah, hard to remember this patch and I don't have the Nano any more. but it looks like Phonogene's EOS was clocking it with the white cable

were you recording your hand and the tv? like a feedback loop?
@frankie18337 жыл бұрын
no feedback loop, i think i had the camera pointed towards a window with my hand moving right in front of it to block light. but it's great in a feedback loop too

Just ordered a DIY kit, thanks for making these demos! So you just have the DVD going to the fluxus, then fluxus into the TV? I haven't managed to find a "how to connect it all" document anywhere yet.
@frankie18337 жыл бұрын
no problem! yep just going rca out from DVD to the Fluxus in, and Fluxus out rca to the TV. there's a web link included with the kit that takes you to a pdf of all the build instructions and some examples to try which is super useful.

how hard was the kit to build? Thinking of getting one but I haven't soldered in about 6 years
@frankie18337 жыл бұрын
i only have basic soldering skills and it was no problem... i thought for sure i messed up some of the solder points but it worked on first power up. build instructions are pretty clear too. i would give it a shot!
@evam26507 жыл бұрын
shredderghost thanks for this info. I just started soldering recently and I'm concerned that I'll have trouble understanding the assembly or mess it up somehow. Is connecting a laptop to this as easy as an hdmi to analog converter? I don't really have much experience with this sort of thing but I'm really eager to learn
@frankie18337 жыл бұрын
it's not as difficult as you'd think. with the build instructions it gives you exactly where each component is placed so its just place and solder at that point. for me it helped to focus first on placing the right component in the right spot (only a few have to be oriented a specific way and it's very clearly marked) and then making a good solder joint. before you know it the thing is done haha. as far as connecting higher definition sources, i'm not sure tbh. It's not something I've messed with before though I'm thinking about getting an rca to hdmi so I can send the output to a projector. But it's very clearly stated in the build notes that this is meant to work best with CRT tv's which can have their sync signals messed with considerably more before it drops completely, as is the case with digital tv's. I'll do some experiments soon and post them if they're interesting. As far as the kit, i'd go for it! BPMC is also really great with answering questions and support
