For pathology matching. does a residency in parasitology in home country (no equivalent of that in the US) help for an old graduate?, if not, what other options do i have?

How different is pathology from Medical laboratory science? Please clarify
@biconcavity96604 жыл бұрын
The term Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) refers to a lab technician who performs pathology laboratory tests. This is a non-physician.
What do you mean by dermapath is a back door to dermatology. Can a pathologist become a dermatologist. iam a fourth year pathologist and very interested in dermapath.
@biconcavity96604 жыл бұрын
Dermatopathologists are well-paid and have a great lifestyle - similiar to dermatology. I know pathologists that couldn't get into dermatology residency, so they went into pathology and then subspecialized in dermatopathology. Some dermatologists do dermatopathology. However dermatopathologists are unlikely perform dermatology procedures on patients. For completeness, be aware that a licensed physician can remove skin lesions (most often done by family med, internal med, derm, plastic surgery). Thus, a pathologist could also remove skin lesions.

The smaller CP fields you mentioned at 2:12, are those stand alone too, or more like stuff you take as a minor in university next to what you are majoring at? (Like how a History major might do Archivist minor?) is such even a thing on medical university? I'm a complete layman but a curious one.
@biconcavity96604 жыл бұрын
First, you complete medical school. Then, you train in Pathology residency (AP/CP or CP only) - this is the specialty. Then, you can sub-specialize in fields such as Microbiology, Hemepath, Chemistry, Blood Banking, HLA, Coagulation, Informatics, etc.
