I'm watching video called "The Fastest Route" 12 years after it was published and we still not there and maybe won't be there during my life. Sounds a bit depressing.

ב''ה, no, switch to solely old-growth rainforest and buy up disused newspaper presses to provide each Android user a printed daily report (ad-supported) of the specific acreage consumed to serve them ads. If anyone asks, the Koch family threatened your lives.

Absolutely riveting. It’s shocking that a manuscript worth so much (in value) was treated the way it was for so long. Thank you scholars for the work that you do.

Fantastic insight into the technology breakthroughs (3) told ELI5 way by one of the doers, by one of its creators. It's witty, entertaining, a joy to watch, and also very poignant! 🥰 It captures the exact moment in time, that rare moment when the path to realizing the robotic car dream opens up, becomes visible to the creators making that advance in technology. 🤩 It's 20yrs since the event in Aug-2004 at the time I'm writing this comment (Sep-2024). I think this talk should be saved for posterity, think it belongs in some Archive of some sort.

One of the most underrated talks ever given (which, for me, has become increasingly difficult to find over the years). They used Python 2.5 (or earlier) in 2007, which, considering how much Python (and the CPU/RAM it's running on) has advanced today, is remarkable. This speaks volumes about the real latency issues in client-server applications with microservices. If your issue is related to CPU-bound operations, it means you are not fully leveraging the true power of asynchronous (or concurrent) computations. By the way, the today's "Psyco JIT compiler" is PyPy.

I know this was more than 10 years ago, but geez... The quality of the video is dreadful. Bram shows slides that don't appear in the video... The misspell of his name in the description... If this was produced by a small company it would be fine - but this was a multi-billion dollar 12 years ago...

Looking at exponentially rising costs of ITER reactor in 2024 (which is constantly 20 years to be finished) this presentation looks prophetic.

Advanced Thorium Reactors NOW. Fusion, Uh later. An alternate approach to fusion is desirable. Say fusion bomb thermal energy stored in carbon blocks . Fast charge with slow discharge. Cheap Oil will NOT bridge the energy gap. ❤❤

N Korea uses microwave and RF weapons to enslave and subjugate its people. These weapons have spread around the world. They are similar to Havana syndrome type weapons. Many countries appear to be using such weapons but I submit N Korea is an example of an entire population being controlled by this technology. Thanks for posting this video of vital information.

@13:37 Today Bard AI will just make up facts for that same prompt and even create fictitious sources. Seems we've moved so far from knowledge bases that factual accuracy is of no concern as long as it looks right. To those familiar with LLM this is not much of a shock, but to the layperson no distinction is drawn between LLM response and search result (which has its own set of problems). Regardless of the small print at the bottom of the page, people have been conditioned to accept Google as a source of truth.

ReiserFS is completely dead for good now. Linux Foundation rendered it as unsupported and is being completely deleted from Linux OS altogether. There's little reason for people to continue working on the now-dead file system especially with the original programmer working on this file system being tried for murder, and I doubt he would be free anytime soon, nor in 2027, mostly because they said 15 to life, so I am betting latter.

I live in a country where the politicians constantly go to talks like these to get informed. In the US they hold rediculous partisan meetings, where nobody gets any wiser by 30 second answer who are constantly interrupted. The US system is build to keep the politicians as stupid as possible.
