Bruh, there is no "pre-arrival" the truck was already on scene before you were. Just speed more, buy a house near a MFS station and annoy the sh!t out of them on every callout! poor MFS :( BTW when you go in after, there is a lot of crap in the air which is why we are meant to wear SCBA!

In Australia we have a rigorous decontamination and clothing cleaning protocol. WH&S. Here, if your gear is constantly filthy, it's not a badge of honour because it means you are not taking care of yourself or your mates. My bushfire gear is stained, but it's been laundered after every vehicle fire, and after every two or three bushfires depending how bad it is. I'm the Chief of my bushfire brigade, dirty gear is a no-no. Everyone has access to a spare set of turnout gear while their primary set is being laundered. Lots of spare consumables too, half face respirator filters, gloves, P2 masks, sunglasses, earplugs, goggles.

White helmets are 'ordinary' firefighters. Colours are officers. In my brigade, yellow helmets for 4,3,2 officers with different colour sticker stripe, Chief - red helmet. My helmet is red.

How do you keep your turnout gear so nice and new looking? One structure fire and our gear is stained or worse and yet these guys,even their gloves look like they just came out of the package. Look at 16:10, not veven a stained helmet.
@elinor6525
@elinor6525 Жыл бұрын
Because of rigorous decontamination and cleaning procedures. WH&S to help keep firefighters safe. At structure fires structure gear is segregated and decotaminated asap. If my bushfire brigade goes to a vehicle fire, all our turnout gear gets bagged to go in to the HQ laundry as soon as we get back to the station. Nasty stuff settles on our clothing. Bushfires, maybe after two or three callouts.

@@elinor6525 We have decon too but no matter how much decon we have after a few fires our gear never again looks new or even close to what these look like. Some of our gear looks worn out after just a few scene overhauls but we do wash down at every scene.

Everyone screaming about late entry. No one thinking of a side entry door on the left side of the building. They had water inside on the fire as you start seeing white smoke. They had 2 lines over the fence and in the building long before the roll up door was cut.
@Biffo1262

The garage was NOT the priority in this case and the OIC failed to make any sort of initial attack plan. He should have been first off the appliance and asking the pertinent questions if any persons were involved and any likely hazards but the two branch men had donned BA and started up then had the reel off before the OIC got his arse of his seat; not good at all. The house exposure was the priority and they initially failed to recognise that and were lacking in any form of direction by the OIC. Unfortunately the two branch men appeared to be rather lacking in experience and it would seem it was only a crew of four. This is what happens when politics plays it's part in financing a critical public service....the ridership factor suffers. Not enough bums on seats, there should be a minimum crew of five and preferably six. For all those saying we'll done you must have very limited aspirations.

I liked the speed with which they get water on the fire. I liked the way they didn't have to burn down the neighbors to make a better fire spectacle (like the US firefighters seem to do). I was disappointed he didn't cut a Z (for Zorro) in the garage door... Overall, I found it way superior to US firefighting efforts. Good stuff.
@georgemessler3345
@georgemessler3345 Жыл бұрын
Do you like putting down U.S. Fire fighters? Many of the US trucks don't even carry the reel line any longer except on brush trucks and most have gone to the 1 3/4 lines that you cannot pull 20 feet and flow water. From what it looks two 1" trash or hard rubber lines were pulled and put into service and yes they did a heck of a job with those lines. How long does it take for then to do a flat lay hook up before water flows there?
@mythos5809
@mythos5809 Жыл бұрын
@@georgemessler3345 Why would I need to put down US firefighters? Or any firefighters? Besides, you just did it yourself by saying they don't have the suitable equipment. What we rather have here is an example of what US firefighters could be, or achieve, if they had suitable equipment, attitude and motivation. Overall, I found it way superior to US firefighting efforts. Good stuff.

@@mythos5809 "I liked the way they didn't have to burn down the neighbors to make a better fire spectacle (like the US firefighters seem to do". I think that would be taken as an insult. And I never said anything about not having the right equiptment, most of the departments did away with the reel lines because they felt they could handle the job with a 1 3/4 line better than using the 1". They were primary lines for trash and car fires and since then started to pipe a front bumper spot for the larger hose they got rid of the reels. There are still engines that have the reel system but compared to 20 or more years ago you will find more of the larger hose. As I said they are common on our brush trucks and smaller squad trucks. The US departments will not spray a drop if there is any possible entrapment so until the primary search is clear you wait for water. And yes there are huge diffrences in the way fires are fought.I was in Australia for a few different summers and the wildfires.

none of you guys in the comments have heard of a thing called "exposures" have you... its better to protect the exposures (neighbouring properties) than to take your three(1) man crew into a building and start attacking a fire.. but, of course, being a random person on the internet you clearly know more than an actual firefighter does about firefighting. 1: average urban pump only carries 5 people, one is the pump operator, one is the officer, leaving you with 3 people for a BA team.

@@ffjsb Thats not my point. I meant there's better ways to protect exposures than sending 3 people into a burning structure when there's nobody else who can serve as a rescue crew. Not to mention as other people have said, the shed was already fully engulfed and not salvageable, making exposures the most important thing.
