LOL - those capital gains taxes won’t be coming for 4 years. Trump and MAGAites can’t spell the word fiscal. They should raise taxes to avoid the US defaulting on its debt. We, for the first time in history, owe more debt than our GDP. In December, our debt was at 126% of GDP. each month it gets worse because we now pay more towards interest than to our balance. But Trump has always financed his stuff off of bankruptcies. The question is whether the US can go bankrupt without significant negative problems for the majority of our population

Knowing today's culture The challenge is knowing when to purchase or sell when investing in trending stocks, which is pretty simple. Hi. W.B. is a market maker, not a market follower like most readers here. If he's recommending others to sell, he'll be buying up the panicking herd's shares cheaply. W.B.'s method is to buy quality and hold it. His "war chest" is not so much that, but rather a lifeboat that means he remains afloat while others sink. He has no debts over his shares, so unlike others who buy on margin using bank finance, he doesn't have to sell quickly when a stock price goes down to avoid being in negative equity. (This is why stock markets are so unstable, the bank managers panic when they see the collateral on their loans sink beneath face value.) There's a strong possibility W.B. is just "churning the market" to create good buying conditions for people with cash. This is why "cash is king". "The borrower is servant to the lender". (Proverbs 22:7). Cheer$, P.R.

I've just begun learning about value investing, and I've found that many good stocks are undervalued despite their intrinsic value. If you had quarter of a million to create a strong portfolio, which stocks would you choose for better returns?
@AnitaLopez-o6e8 күн бұрын
I think a good portfolio should have three basic things: ETFs for diversification, dividend stocks for cash flow, and leading tech stocks. With your budget, it's a good idea to talk to a fiduciary advisor for expert advice.

Buffet is forecasting tax changes and preferring to pay taxes now than wait for tax increases later, which he feels are inevitable. Smart move for him, but if you are in an IRA or 401K, that may or may not be smart for you. Buffet has also done unique deals with companies like B of A, that normal investors cannot do. Trying to copy Berkshires' buying is not possible for most people and probably not wise, However, it is hard to argue with his overall premise that we are overdue for a fall of significant proportion, and common sense says we should prepare our portfolios for this potential. Greed says "it won't happen to me", which are often famous last words. Buffet has gone 37% to cash, allowing him to still benefit from final stages of the melt-up (although at a reduced level), while still also being ready to cushion the blow of a dramatic downturn, and be prepared to buy when a bottom is reached. The man is just a great investor.

I think Buffett knows he has become a key indicator that drives other's choices. He knows he is being watched and emulated. If he could convince enough people to sell and hold on to their cash, he could actually cause a crash! He could drive the market to rock bottom prices and then clean up himself with is cash on hand and him and Charlie Munger can go out in style. When you look at Warren and Charlie's smug ass grin in their share holder's meetings and the fact that he started his little empire by selling mobile homes to people that couldn't afford them so he financed them himself so he could repo them and sell them again. Just like every other corporate grifter in America, he's made his money taking advantage of the people who could least afford it. And if you say one thing negative about capitalism being unbridled greed and legalized theft, you're labeled a communist. I'm ready to seek asylum in Norway where people are treated like people.
