I always took the symbolism of its her fault for getting on the ship in the first place knowing she could drown. She had the power to keep herself safe and her dreams were warning her that she was in danger. But rather than heeding that and being in charge of her fate she trusted the captain, put her life in his hands and wanted to instead stay awake and avoid the warnings her mind was sending her. She was happy to be subservient and ride it out until she 'reached shore' (aka when things were safe again) rather than just not getting on the ship in the first place and taking the risk. Kinda hit with the symbolism of people putting themselves in danger and just trusting it'll get better and they'll be rewarded rather than choosing safety and themselves in the first place which is perfect for Tamara, it all could have been avoided if she just didnt open the Scorpions cage to begin with but...she chose to get on the ship and as a result she drowned.

i find it really interesting that in the ring, tamara does not leave her pedestal. in a way, it shows that even though tamara can see her partner is bad for her (like watching lucifer walk around her, trying to catch his gaze at all times) she still finds herself in these relationships. like no matter what she does, she just has to watch it all unfold

See in the wiki and many conversations it says that Tamara was sent to hell for naivety and that it was an "imperfection not a sin" but i argue that that not entirely it. She wasnt naive she was desperate not to be alone. Think of it Scorpion woes her says wait right here but she doesnt she follows him. She doesnt trust him or she would have waited. She Cant bare to be alone. Than she finds him making out with the painted doll and she gets mad and SAYS she is gonna leave. But she doesnt at first. In fact Scorpion says ok? And she gets offended that he isnt reacting more to her saying she is gonna leave. THAN when she turns to leave now that she is pissed because he didnt react. THAN he reacts "hey you said you trusted me!!" and IMMEDIATELY she turns around and gushes about how she does trust him. Because she cant bare to be alone and she cant bare the thought of not being needed. Her sin is naivety its Lust. Not the driving physical lust of others BUT the desperate need to be wanted and desired and to be NEVER alone. That is its own form of lust. As most things are when taken to extreme sins. Thats why in the end Credits while she sings this song. She says "in all my dreams I drown" she doesnt want to be alone and we are each of us alone when we fall asleep. None can join us. She was so desperate not to be alone with herself with her own mind her own inequities. Her own warped perception of how worthless she is. That she begs Satan himself. "I'll do your chores and warm your sheets and mop your cabin floors" As in "I will do anything you want just look at me and see me and desire me. DONT LEAVE ME ALONE" Her sins were Cowardice and Lust. The desperate desire to be seen and needed and never left to stand on her own too feet. To stop playing the victim and control her own life. Instead of allowing herself to be controlled by those around her.

I've been trying to figure out the symbolism of this song for a long time, and I think I finally stumbled upon something. 'Dream' has a double meaning, because it can mean 'hope for future'. And while we are asleep, dreaming, we are truly alone in our own minds. Tamara can't see a path forward for herself, so she clings to whoever will have her in any capacity, hoping they will carry her past this treacherous and uncertain period of her life. But the people she clings to end up leaving her behind, like the captain telling her to go to sleep. And alone, she drowns.

This kind of reminds me of "Rosemary's Baby." I picture this happening when Rosemary was hypnotized into sleeping with the Devil.

As someone who raps, the devils song at the end was miraculously written and performed. There was nothing simple about the way it was put together. I mean the music from the whole movie was dope but the devils song at the end was extremely well done. When you think he is going to rhyme with a word he switches up on the 4th bar, and does it on the chorus to. He goes back and forth from the rhyme in the middle and the end of the bar too for a while, and then takes you somewhere else, stops, and starts again. Not many song writers go that far they just rhyme the words at the end of the bar and are very predictable. This was very complexed lyricism the song stood out and I played it many times.
