Just when I was thinking of getting Mine Yours Mystery (Paul Martin) or Blank Night (Archer) you mention Lucky Envelopes... what do you think of these alternatives? Is Lucky Envelopes better? thanks

I have blank night but I prefer Lucky Enveloppes due to its simplicity! The mine yours by paul martin is great too but I do not own it. I know alot of great magicians use it. It all depends if a 50/50 for you is better than alternatives that offer more “choices”! :)

Hey sir, for The Traveller you mentioned “chance of failing”. So, it does not work 100% of the time? It is not surefire?
@sebastiantoca9208
@sebastiantoca9208 Күн бұрын
If done correctly it should not fail. As with all propless material, if the spectator does not fully understand the instruction or just jumps ahead of you and thinks of something before you finish your patter, then it can fail. I have only performed this in 1 on 1 settings in calmer venues and it has never missed. But in a crowded bar or at a loud wedding, there is the risk it can fail due to noise masking some of your instructions.

Great review and happy new year to you, Sebastian! I have this and def recommend it, especially for intro to mem deck. If you already got a stack down, you still can get a lot from this. I would also add the sleights alone are worth about as much as the book. Andi Gladwin's Undo Cut is taught here, and with Jay's additional handling, easily with the just the sleights section. But then you get even more. Did the ebook come with a particle pack? I got the black Friday special so I got the physical, ebook, and deck for $100 USD.
@sebastiantoca9208
@sebastiantoca9208 4 күн бұрын
No the ebook comes with nothing physical, just the videos and ebook. The black friday deal was for sure worth it, but waiting over a month (which is what it takes for products from the US to come to me) was too much of an inconvenience to justify getting a physical edition.

So, after sending my last comment, I had an idea. Without using the gimmick cards, except for the one DB, the cards can be thoroughly shuffled, just keeping the DB on top. The spectator can now freely think of "any of his 10 (9) cards" (including any court cards). After the spectator counts his 9 cards, their thought of card would appear in an ID, which was sitting on top of the table the whole time. The one con is they can't look to see if their card is still in the 9 card packet.
@VancouverMagic
@VancouverMagic 5 күн бұрын
Some confusion here, as on the Ellusionist demo Germaine did not instruct the spectator (twin) not to think of a court card (only not to think of his top face-up card, which was the Joker). Also on the demo, the 9 tabled cards were not shown again after the 'vanish'.

Hi Sebastian, thanks for the great review. I want to ask, do you store Flux and the magnetic object separately? The reason I'm asking is that I'm still divided on whether to pick up Flux or Espionage. Flux being almost invisible to the audience but Espionage purportedly being more robust in being near strong magnetic objects. Also is Flux still working well for you? Thanks a lot.
@sebastiantoca9208

Flux works extremely well! With Promystic you can never go wrong. I do keep the objects seperate. I do not keep flux in the same pocket or some container as the magnetic object. I do understand wanting espionage as well. It is also on sale on MindFX for like 115$ which could be a massive steal for you.

My 2 cents on this as someone who used The Memory Arts to learn my first stack, Memorandum, and has since memorised at least 6 other stacks. It does help with making the cards stick in the mind and would be better than route learning. However, for anyone with a decently strong visual imagination, I recommend an alternative. As mentioned elsewhere, the Peg mnemonic system described in several Harry Lorayne books is ideal for working with numbers. Each number is assigned a "consonant sound" (0 = s / ch / sh, 1 = t / d, etc.). By connecting these with vowels, you can create any object or image out of the numbers. E.g. 32 can be Moon, 22 = Nun, 47 = Rock. Cards can be given their own image through another simple rule. The first letter is the suit and the rest of the word rhymes (roughly) with the value. E.g. 4 of Diamonds = DOOR. 5 of Hearts = (bee)HIVE. Combining images gives you your card at number, e.g. 5H is at 22 = a Nun (22) is trying to get honey out of beeHIVE (5H) but gets attacked by thousands of bees. If you create an image for each number from 1 - 52 and each card in the deck, you will have the vocabulary to memorise any deck in less than an hour for the rest of your life. I was able to memorise the Particle stack within an hour of opening the book and have no fear of switching back to my previous stack if I end up not liking it as much. It's all just combining different images in your head to make a little narrative. And because you create a visual scene that can be funny or outrageous or disturbing, it sticks in your mind. The same peg system can be used for memorising PI's decimals to 100's of places (I've done around 150 one slow work day). In my experience, the method taught in The Memory Arts does not allow for the same strength of visual imagery, as it relies on some generic, repeating images and therefore does not stick in the mind as strongly. I also found it to not be as versatile and teaching two cards per "number" I found to slow recall. Can't wait to hear your views on the Particle System book.

Wonderful review, I will probably pick this up. I have my own memory techniques, but I struggle when it comes to cards. I used my technique to memorize Paul Carnazzo's Depiction so I can do it hands off but find it hard to memorize things when there are too many items or the specific order of items when there are a lot of items. Depiction only requires me to memorize 21 items and breaks them down into groups of 3 to make it easier.

The whole channel is run with my own money. I make around 20$ a month from KZbin so I am not in a position to be able to purchase everything from KZbin revenue like others are. On top of that, I maybe get gifted two or three products a year by people to review out of everything. So if I am able to save a gimmick that costs me 5-6$ that I can use at a gig when I get one I sadly will. Gig wise, with my schedule, i can do maybe 1-2 a month and my fees are not in the 500+$ realm like many others. So even my gigs dont cover the money I put into buying products to review for the channel. I am sorry about that truly - I do my best to give you the best information possible about every single effect, even if sometimes I cannot always perform the effect (due to gimmick cost per performance or method restrictions).
