The song was written by Spencer Williams, a well-known Afro-American composer, and also recorded by Julia Moody. Miles's rendition beats the hell out of Moody's IMHO

The instrumentation is regular old flapper music, but when it is combined with THOSE lyrics, it sounds maniacal and sinister. Like the instrumental break, you can imagine she's just shooting people and laughing. Fine vintage murder music.
