When I was a young boy in the 50s my mother and father took me to Prudhoe station. We stood in the middle of the footbridge as the steam trains passed underneath. I was terrified as I was only five years old, but I was also excited watching those noisy, steam-belching monsters pass underneath. I will never forget it.

It certainly looks a very scenic route. I am actually going to Carlisle tomorrow on this line from Newcastle so I am looking forward to the trip. Let's just hope the weather is good Regards from Whitley Bay

I live in Hartlepool and this brings back a lot of memories. I used to be crazy into trains when I was young. Miss the GC HSTs and the "Purple passenger trains" more commonly known as Class 158s and 150s XD

All change now in 2020. Class 777s are being delivered, though it will be a while before they enter service. You got videod 508110 at Aintree station. It ran its final journey this week (w/e 16th Aug) and is off to Sims scrapyard in Newport on Sunday August 16th.

@@James-si1wr I think the Stadler replacement stock for the Metro is going to be look similar to the 777s on Merseyrail.

Majority of trains tend to bypass Hessle and Ferriby before heading for next station of Brough, which acts like a commuter place for people working in Hull. As u can see the Humber Bridge is not very far away. Best view of the bridge is when u approach Hessle from Doncaster/York/Leeds and have the river right beside u. It is so epic and always reminds me that I am near home.

I'm considering visiting Felling Metro for an episode of Trains at. There's a spot on the ramp where filming is less obvious, and Northern trains pass through, both directions, every hour. Always a chance for freight, too.

Do you know if there was a speed restriction in that area? The trains passing through didn't seem to travel as fast as they would normally do.

Great video Geordie Trainspotter. I was on the Merseyrail electric from Waterloo to Moorfields last week. The Merseyrail Electrics is slightly different from the London Underground and Tyne and Wear Metro in that it is part of the national rail network. The class 507s and 508s used on the network are former BR trains and were BR blue and grey when they were brand new in the 1978 and 1980, respectively. The class 508s started their first few years on suburban services out of London Waterloo before their current duties in Merseyside.
