People sya not too do this. Consumer Reports, Fire Departments, etc. I know so many people who do. I park outside, so I do. I have my heater on a timer, 2.5hrs before I start my car. You do not need more than 4.0hrs of plug in time, after that, just wasting power. Cheers! Stumpr1

97 Avalon 1mz-fe v6 3.0L Back story-so I back flushed my heater core until water ran clean then I hooked the inlet line back onto the coolant system and continued to push water through the heater cores return line until I seen it flowing clean back out of the pipe the return line connects to then vise versa yet when everything is connected with the car warmed up, there's absolutely no heat with max heat settings and the heater core return hose is not burning hot. I don't remember exactly but when doing the flush i used the dollar tree toy that looks like a giant pencil that sucks up and squirts water and it didn't need a lot of pressure to push the water through. Question - what would be stopping me from getting heat like even if the core was a little clogged i would eventually get some heat but it flowed through easily by hand with the squirter
@stumpr1
@stumpr1 25 күн бұрын
If you have good flow thru the core, and it seems like you do, you could have a BLEND DOOR that is NOT fully closed to direct/allow MAX air to flow thru/over the heater core. Are both heater core lines close in temps? when you grab them. Keep the fan off, get the engine to OP temp. grab the hoses [careful their hot] are they somewhat equal? If there is a small difference...thats normal. But if there is a large temp difference, you could very well have a blocked here core. Even 30% blockage, is enough flow loss to cause low heat into the cab.
@stumpr1
@stumpr1 25 күн бұрын
Like Zero heat? Does your Avalon have a heater core shut off valve, which would be located inline, on the Heater hose that flows INTO the heater core. I am not sure if your car has this, most I've seen are vacuum activated and acutally shuts the flow of coolant off to the heater core. Whe the fan is on med or high, set it too defrost only. Now check all your other vents, do you have air blowing on the floor, side vents, dash vents? Change to all different air flow settings, do all your settings of air flow direction, work? Do you have a cabin air filter in the vehicle? I shall search your car type out and see what else I can come up with.

2010 forester, 2.5 NA. Humming from the front end after 65KM/h, and then pitch and noise increase the faster you go. I replaced both of the front bearings and the noise is still there. Are you saying that its just the dust shields that are bad and that replacing the dust shields fixed your issue with this weird humming/oscillating at hwy speeds?
@stumpr1
@stumpr1 Ай бұрын
Not the dust shields, as they would make a higher pitch squeal, at all speeds. Do another roadtest, ON AN OPEN ROAD! Minimal traffic would be best. Get up to speed, 2 hands on the wheel and steer left and then right, at speed. BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT DO THIS IF U R UNSURE OF YOUR DRIVING SKILL. Steering L/R at speed will load and unload bearings. Does the noise change when doing this? If u steer right and the noise gets worse, it's a L/frt aera problem. If Left turn makes the noise worse, its the right frt area.

@@stumpr1 well I just disassembled it again, this time under a lift which was so nice! The driveshaft yoke does have a polished line but no grooves or wear. Not sure if the polished line is normal but there is definitely no groove. There doesn’t seem to be any play in the shaft carrier bearing either. No noticeable play anywhere. I ordered the seals directly from Toyota. However I did read recently that if the seal isn’t properly seated deep enough into the extension housing, it may leak. The last seal I installed was definitely not properly recessed. So hopefully that’s the issue. I ordered 2 seals, if this doesn’t work I’ll be ordering a new yoke and doing it AGAIN. Here's another thing to look at, The Instrument Cluster main wire connection. It is located at the top of the cluster, the pins and or the soldering gets damaged which cause loss of gauges and lights. The harness connects at the top of the cluster and is pulled 90 degrees to the right which puts a load of pressure on the cluster. Over time, the pins wear, even break away. Check that connection by pulling the cluster. Once you remove some of the dash, it's easy, you'll see the wire harness and get a good understanding of what i'm talking about. The cluster may need to be repaired or replaced. Wiggle that harness and see if the gauges/lights work. Stumpr1
