What the Apostle is positing here is absolutely wrong. When you appoint a fast whilst praying, you do so to create an atmosphere or enviroment that'll enable the Holy Spirit within you to find unhindered expression in aligning your spirit to the will of God. The fast will also aid in suppressing/restraining the flesh so that the Holy Spirit can enable the inherent power of God's Word to be released and channeled towards what you're petitioning God for. A parallel of this could be found in the O.T- using the birth of Perez and Zelzah as an example of how the Spirit restrains the flesh. As a couple, before you fast, you're supposed to be in agreement that during the specified time of the fast. you both abstain from any form of pleasure, including sexual intimacy for sex itself is a form of pleasure. Ish.58:3 and vs.13 clearly states that on a day of a fast, you should abstain from personal pleasures so as to focus on seeking God's face for what you're petitioning Him for. A story in the O.T that could be parrallel to this is the story of Uriah, whom King David tried to convince to go home and sleep with his wife in order to cover his atrocity.. Uriah said , how can he do so when Israel is at war. When you add a fast to your prayer to obtain something, you're engaged in a warfare and as the book of Timothy states, as a soldier at war, you need not get entangled with civilian/worldly matters since your aim is to endeavour to seek the favour of God so that your prayer/petition might be granted. You can have sex after the fast is over but not during the specified time of the fast. If you're abstaining from food and you have sex, obviously your natural strength will dissipate, you might be tired and one way or the other, the efficacy of labouring in prayer would be reduced drastically.

Can we have sex when we're fasting

1st Corinthians 7:5. Speak to your partner, agree together, and come together after fasting. I realized that the training of a man is very important. Like Apostle Osayi was saying, these are things he used to train himself. Sometimes people say things to help some people so their marraiges don't break because of fasting. Even if you are born again, speaking in tongues, check your excesses, go for deliverance. Some people have been having sex since they were teenagers. Hence, it is like food to them. I laugh when people say Jesus was not married. All the so-called Christian men, sleeping around, are they married? The Bible says Jesus was tempted as we are. Lazarus had 2 sisters. If it is some brothers now, or even Pastors or ordinary men, it is from social media that we would have been hearing their stories. His relationship with the Holy Spirit helped Him. The Bible says Jesus rose up a long while before day, some brothers are still having sex then, they have no self content. Please, I am not against sex, not at all. God created sex for you to enjoy marraige, but some people actually have a problem and they won't see it as a problem. The only reason their spouse agrees is so that they won't go out of the marraige, they are the kind of people who threaten their Spouses that they'll go outside. Please don't be angry, if you are getting angry that means you need to ask God for help, I am not talking to Holy Spirit led men, I am talking about those who don't have self control, those who allow the spirit of the environment and society to control them. The question here is 1 year. The person is asking if he or she, as a married person, can fast for a year. That's an obvious answer. If both of them agree, I believe the Lord will honor it. And that is why, as a woman, make sure you are healthy and not sick. That is when you will know if there is love of Christ in your marriage or not.
