Iam a student of ADR.. and in mediation, this is exactly what happens, our mediator in this case should try one more thing.. control one person to talk at a time to avoid argument. I've been mediating disputes at work for many years now (very controlled and professional environment in our office) and have recently gone out on my own- My greatest fear, honestly, is that I would not be able to control my own "temper" if I have someone like that rude guy in my session (yes, I know these are actors and may be exaggerating the experience for demonstration purposes)...

The video was okay. At the end of each party stating their positions, the mediator did not summarise. It seemed she played no part in facilitating communication between the parties. This gives an impression that the dispute did not need a mediator in the first instance. Consequently, trainee mediators will hardly learn from this clip.

I can't believe I'm the first person to comment on this in 4 years. Granted, this video is boring as shit, but only because the type of mediation I'm interested in is workplace conflict resolution, at the moment.
