It is PlatinumQuest because I was stupid and didn't think I had a chance at getting such a good time. After this happened, I never played Marble Blast Gold in PlatinumQuest again

It's called a traplaunch. The idea is that you can squeeze yourself between two moving platforms, or a moving platform and stationary object, and since the marble and floors/walls are all rigid objects, the marble will get squeezed and fly unpredictably into the air, or else if it's squeezed for too long, it can either clip inside a platform or stop a platform moving altogether. Where you'll go is largely random, but you can achieve more consistent results by having a setup, like a certain proportion of the marble off the platform, and locking the frame rate of the game (which people now use a mod to do). For this particular level, it doesn't take too much luck to get a launch straight up and to the finish, but catching the time travel on the way up is much harder. This is about as high as you can go without going out of bounds. The only way this was beaten was that Xelna hit the red beam by the time travel to reduce his height, propelling him to the finish platform.

Good question, probably because this was made in 2002 and they didn't have a good way to make smooth curves with this game engine. Either that, or just to contribute to the cartoony style of the game

Well, if you were playing online, even though the website is down, everyone's data is still safe. The website is being rebuilt, but it'll still be a while before it's back up. You can still play PQ offline, but your scores won't be saved to the leaderboards because the leaderboards are down, so there's not really any point. If you want to have fun with Gold, Platinum, or Ultra offline, there's always the Marble Blast Haxe port on Github, which runs natively on web, Mac, and Windows, but for that, the physics differ very slightly from the original game, so any scores you set won't be carried over. So basically, your progress is still saved, and whenever the website is back (I imagine within this year sometime), you'll be able to play online again.

@@NF30 Maybe im being dumb but the PQ launcher doesn't work for me anymore. It will ask me if I want to run it in offline mode, ill press yes and then it wont open (I almost never used online mode for PQ anyways). Im currently playing on the platinum haxeport. To change topics slightly, how would I play levels like Frost Ravine. Is it in the custom levels section of the game, or would I need to download it seperately? Thank you for your help btw!

Yeah, the PQ launcher can't connect to the website because the website is down, but you can still launch PQ directly from the executable. If you're on a Mac, it's in /Users/[you]/Applications/PlatinumQuest.app, and on Windows I don't remember where it is, maybe AppDataRoaming/PlatinumQuest/marbleblast.exe? I don't know, but you can definitely still play without using the launcher at all. Once you launch the game, you'll find Frost Ravine and other custom levels in the offline category, under Custom, and sorted into various level packs like how they are on the online leaderboards.

@@Gentrol You can set it to whatever you want in the game file marble/client/prefs.cs. For this short I used 1080 x 1920, but more recently I have used 720 x 1280 because the numbers and text are bigger

I find music of any kind to be a big distraction, not just when I play this game, but in general. So I have the game music off when I'm playing. I guess I could turn it back on when I record the replay that you see here, but I haven't done that, mostly because it's just what I prefer. What do you think though? Should I record my replays with the music on?

All I did was set the resolution of the game to 1080 x 1920. In retrospect, I should have done 720 x 1280 for bigger UI. That's what I'll do next time I upload a short. Which might actually be this weekend, because I need content after breaking my Mac mini (it's going to be a couple months before I can get it fixed)

I appreciate the encouragement! Unfortunately I've barely been playing the game at all for the last month or so-it just hasn't felt worth it lately. But I might go for this path again, as it's certainly easier than what Lee did.

@@NF30 I get you. I haven’t played much lately either, and every time I’ve tried to, I just feel like it’s poison. You have a lot of potential though to get a lot of WRs, so I hope you find some motivation when you’re ready.
