Hi, how are You? My name is Milton Castaño. I'm from Argentina. I have an epson Stylus pro 9700 that have the cyan channel damage in the printhead. My question: Is it posible to creat a icc profile that use one black channel (my printer have Photo black and matte black) to print the cyan? I ask that because i know that acrorip 10 can do that but is not compatible with my printer. I use dye alternative inks. Hope you can help me. Thanks

Hi Roger, great short series on Munsell, very useful and informative! Could you provide a link to the Italian University software - High Contrast colour set? Is that what the program is called? I've been trying to search for it but I'm not having any success, it would be very useful to me. Also, is there a way to reach you so that I can message you directly? I'd really love to receive a Munsell chip set that you created if possible...thanks in advance.

Hi Roger, I've watched the series that you have made on Munsell with great interest. I'm a fashion designer and have worked for many years with Pantone as my main colour reference (for lab dips etc) but now that I am more heavily involved in digital printing, Pantone just cannot sufficiently provide a wide enough range of colour. I have a couple of questions. Given that Munsell seems to be very much an industry standard - certainly at the very high end of production as it has way more scope/nuance over Pantone, is there any way to get the colour set in digital format? I cannot understand, why the full Munsell colour book is not available as a digital ASE file so that we can all use it in our programs? I will invest in the big Book, but it is a bit of a drag that I then have to manually create my pallets inside illustrator. Secondly, regarding the big book, I'm slightly confused about the overall range of colours that it presents. If I understand correctly, Each of the 10 base colours 'should' be broken up into ten sections (1-10) but there are not ten sections per colour in the book, there appear to be 4 sections issued to each hue? (2.5 through to 10). So my question is, how useful is the book? That is a HUGE number of missing colours, and ultimately you end up with a book of only 1600 colours. I thought that the whole benefit of the system, would be that (technically) I would be able to match almost any visible colour? But without ALL the possible colours in the book, how do we know what the in between colours look like? I feel like I am missing an obvious/crucial point here. Perhaps you can enlighten me? Many thanks *Edit, I have just been playing around inside illustrator and set up a few munsell collour manually - a yellow set, based on formulations, and I can see straight away that I have a vastly more diverse 'saturated' set of options if I just use my usual Panton TCX guide colours. I get that munsell might offer me better gradiations of colour so it might help when matching colours, but just in terms of base colours....I'm not entirely sure how I would benefit using them over Pantone as the choices of base colours (Value 5) just seems quite restricted.

Nice try - when you work as a one-eyed among blind - you should not public this as a kind of tutorial - as obviously you did not fully understood yourself what you have been doing. I have been working a long time for Hell - later Heidelberger in the field of developing colormanagement - and when I look at KZbin how many people are out there with half knowledge showing their very own understanding of color management - this is not really helpful to the once who are seeking for answers. But however - thx for the vid

Please be more specific about what you consider "half knowledge" and consider "obvious" proof I am incompetent about? You may have been working for a long time for Linotype-Hell/Heidelberg but it seems you never learned about "helpful commenting". Please give some examples of where, exactly, in the presentation I am "not really helpful"' so other watcher can benefit from you "correct" point of view. Oh! BTW, do you have links to videos you made on the subject?

@@rogerbreton6412 Hey, excellent series on the Munsell color system. I learned so much. A really good way to share some of your resources would be through google drive. You could create a folder and load the excel file in as a Sheet and the text files as a Doc. Then you could share the folder. Just right click the folder from My Drive and select share, click "anyone with a link", and a link will be generated that can be shared with anyone. There will be a drop down menu that says 'Viewer'. Just make sure it does NOT get changed to Editor.

Hello Roger, I am a student of Eletrical Engineer at University Federal of São Carlos in Brazil. In my final work at university I am building a low cost colormeter using a sensor RGB manufactured by Hamamatsu. To test the precision of my equipment I am thinking to use a BCRA tiles just like those presented in your video on You Tube. I want to ask you where you bought this tiles and, if possible, how much do you paid for them ? This information will be very helpfull for me. If you want, send me an email: [email protected]

Very interesting test! Curious to know what kind of instrument the National Research Center uses. Inter-modal agreement was an issue for a quite while, but does get much better nowadays. Baseline is BCRA tiles are great for tracking the device shift overtime.
@rogerbreton64127 жыл бұрын
NRC uses a 0/45 instrument that captures reflectance in 1nm increment. It's a "table" instrument, nothing fancy. The most important featture is that it is calibrated against their "Primary" reftectance standard which is obtained from their reference instrument.

Please excuse the slow pace of some parts of the presentation. I understand I should be doing this in a more structured way (maybe some day?) but for now, my goal is to quickly add a few ideas to those already presented in the previous video.

Hi Roger, thanks for making your video. I found it very interesting. I was wondering whether you know of any Computer Software, that can be purchased or is free, which would allow me to take a color-graded Image file (like a RAW image, TIFF or JPG) and then use that software on the image to perform Colour Matching using the Munsell Colour System?. I guess my goal is to find something similar to how the eye-dropper tool in Adobe Photoshop is used in helping to determine the colour of pixels in a photo (however Adobe Photoshop is not suitable for this sort of work).
