Hmm big winter spates can damage alot of banks and drop trees into the river. The work of clearing them and cutting them up is often done by angling club members in the spring.Of course if any canoeists want to come along with their chain saws ....many hands make light work. Can be a bit hazardous!! Spates can also destroy the salmon redds..which means fewer salmon..... its a major Dee problem..and the deline is saddening and perplexing.

@@simonartley1645 hey Simon, yeah we often have to clear trees out when then fall across the river… certainly makes it interesting when done from a raft ha! We’re part of the river Dee clean up crew too… keep the area looking its best, as it should be ☺️

Am I silly for going down this river and all the challenges including horseshoe falls/serpeants tail in an inflatable kayak? Never the less it was fun, however the levels were no where near in this video.

Well I'm loving that! Where are you at 2:30ish? That's the only bit I don't recognise 🤔
@mrfrosty85
@mrfrosty85 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steven, much appreciated :) after 2:30, I am on a section called "sketchy Quarry" on Strava.....you come down the main road near the castle (with the Castle on your left.... think its called High Street) and then a bit before you get to a T Junction at the end (where it joins Mow Cop Road), there is a little road on the right (called Rockside).....that eventually turns to a path and it's down there.... it heads down to the bottom of Mow Cop Road. It also has a bit in of another path there that's just off high street (where it meets woodcock lane....lots of step drop offs in and its well fast!). That bit at 2:50 is well bad in the wet (hard enough in the dry!) so just inspect it first.
@SteveKimbo
@SteveKimbo 3 жыл бұрын
@@mrfrosty85 cheers Mark. I do know where you mean, there's that super sketchy drop right on the edge of the quarry and then that also-sketchy rocky switchback that might as well be ice in the wet. Never been down the other one to Woodcock lane though, I'll have to have a Scout about 👍 Keep the videos coming though, I enjoyed that!

Good vid mate. I've recently started getting into trail riding. Love the whitemore ride. Where does the quarry trail start?
@mrfrosty85
@mrfrosty85 4 жыл бұрын
Huttons Gardens thanks! Yeah love it up there! For the quarry trail.... if you come down High Street from Mow Cop Castle, the. You take a sharp right down Rockside, and follow that road, which then turns a bit gravelly, then drops off onto a foot path (and you go down there and stay left at the fork).... it then gets a bit nuts haha

Did you shoot in 1080p 60fps? What do you think about the spark?
@mrfrosty85
@mrfrosty85 5 жыл бұрын
Jason Eson, yes shot in 1080 but only in 30fps..... I didn’t realise there was a hack to get 60fps until I just looked on the back of this comment ha! But I love it, I really wanted the Mavic air but concerned at flying something so expensive over water so much, I got a spark and not disappointed at all! I was concerned about battery life, but as I shoot so close to me, it’s not an issue (plus I have 3 spare!!)

Great vid, watched it a few times, like the song too. I really like the camera pan, I guess its a new toy? I know people moan about the FPV GoPro head cam... but they are wrong, I really like seeing the paddlers perspective and take notes from the skills, strokes and edges used. I can only suggest you keep it on wide angle, have it mounted towards the front of the helmet and pointed slightly down. Takes a few tries to get right and once you do cut a score into the waterproof housing and mount so you can line it up the same way again. Try show more of the paddlers hands, some of the spray deck... without cutting out the sky completely. That's the good stuff!

Apollo Polecat thanks bud! yes slider is quite new. Really good to use but can only do it on certain locations as its a bit big! Good tips on the go pro, thanks, will have to play around a little with settings/position etc. to see what looks best. (problem is, I just wack it in the helmet mount on my helmet, ask a friend "is that looking about right!???", they do the usual "I don't know, sure!!!!" and off we go haha! have another in the making now though that should be better than this ;) watch out for it soon!

Barra Liddy thanks! i used nikon d90 for all of the panning/zoom shots, and then a go pro hero 3+ for the rest. I used a camera slider from glide gear for the panning effect. They are a bit expensive for what they are, but the effect you get from them is pretty cool i think! Hope this helps
