I have the Tama Classic. I purchased a second bag to carry my pedal, tom stand, floor tom legs, and drum throne stand. I recommend getting a second Tama Classic case

Good shout. I bought the slightly larger Tama bag (not the wheeled one) and that works well too. Thanks for watching

What cable do you use from the metronome to the mixer for the click
@chrispidgeonmusician6 күн бұрын
I use a guitar cable to be honest. This metronome is guitar type jack output (or headphones) and the mixer can also take that. Or guitar to xlr. Thanks for watching

I just wanted to see what they changed from the original. The plastic nut where the spring goes and the pedal pin, This helped me decide that if I want a new one I'll just get the non foldable as there is no value in this one for me.

I’m jealous, I never looked up the other wraps, the black wraps with the wood hoops on the kick look so clean, I found the cream marble wrapped one and got it for myself as a present years ago I don’t know what it is about this kit, it brings a different energy to my playing and style, I own 3 kits and it’s my smallest by far but really bring out this jazzy & bass & drum style out of me every time I sit down on it Truly in love with this beauty

I agree. I’ve actually just traded this one for the Satin Blonde lacquer version and it looks really good. I think they sound a little better too, although I’m probably imagining it. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for making this. I have the Tama Lightweight set, but i would like to mount my 12 x 8" tom off a cymbal stand. I wonder would the Crosstown cymbal stand handle that?
@chrispidgeonmusician8 күн бұрын
Well you could. But I don’t. I don’t think it would do it much good. I use a normal single braced Yamaha stand when I want to mount a Tom.
@seamunki8 күн бұрын
Thanks Chris👌 I reckon another snare stand will be in order.

I play in a local community band and some of our shows take place in parks - no stage, set up directly on ground. Will these hold up on slightly uneven ground?
@chrispidgeonmusician9 күн бұрын
I’d honestly say probably be too unstable. I wouldn’t use them in that use case. In fact mine are set up on my home practice it. I use my Yamaha Crosstown. I’ve published a video comparing the two.
@LarrySchmitt-n2q7 күн бұрын
@ I’ve watched that video! I have a friend who uses the Yamahas. I’m not crazy about the look, prefer the look of the Tamas. I appreciate your input. As much as I’d like to lighten my load, I can see them not working out in some of my locations.

I ordered this bag years ago and have been happily using it ever since. Main reason for me to buy it was to reduce the amount of bags/cases i have to carry around when going to gigs in public transport. Or going to band practice on a bike (as we do in the Netherlands 😏) The bag has never failed me to this day and is still sturgy. No problems with zippers whatsoever.

What heads do you recommend on this kit?
@chrispidgeonmusicianАй бұрын
To be honest any decent heads. The stock Tom heads are bad, so I generally put the stock batter heads on the reso side and G2 clear it coated on the batter. Snare is good with a coated ambassador and I have a PS3 clear on the kick batter.

@chrispidgeonmusician2 ай бұрын
I’m sure I seen somewhere that you can put the top boom ection of one of the 600 (I think) Yamaha stands in a crosstown base. I’ll have a look as I have one. Thanks for watching

I've also used both these sets, and they're both very good. I have not had any problems with the tama cymbal stands at all. I play a big ride cymbal quite heavily and the stand has been very sturdy. I imagine if you're in a metal outfit typ of band it would not suffice, but I am not, so it will. I did a few gigs on the yamaha stands without a carpet (house kit) and they really do move around alot more than the tamas. For me the looks of the tama, ease of setup, memory locks and very small size when folded together really seals the deal. I fit four tama cymbal stands, hihat stand, snare stand, floor tom legs, rack tom holder and my bass drum legs in the tama bag with room to spare, which is incredible. Cheers, and thanks for the review.
@chrispidgeonmusician2 ай бұрын
Fair. I don’t play metal or hit hard. But too often I am at places where the playing stage is not flat/uneven etc and I’d not be confident that the 20” ride would hold up. Especially in a marquee or similar where the floor can be less than optimal. I have the classic set up at home on my practice set now. I really do prefer the classic in every other way though. I’ve not had movement from the Crosstowns, and the bag accommodates my microphones too, and it’s all about the carry from the car! Thanks for watching!

Love these stands. I put a great big 22" ride on these guys and have not had a single issue. Excellent in every way. I also have a Club Jam (as a secondary kit) and the portability of that combination is incredible.

I’ve been using the Yamaha Crosstown Hardware for about 18 months now. I added an extra cymbal stand and I can say, without doubt that these are absolutely superb quality. They’re light, easy to use, easy to set up and break down. I do have two other Yamaha boom stands in my set up, but these are a real game changer in lightweight hardware. Great summary video!

Brilliant content Chris. Was very close to going down this route myself but two factors put me off. Firstly, call me lazy but there's no way I'm taking them out of the cases before and after every rehearsal and gig. I want to be setup and takedown ASAP. Secondly, I mount toms from my cymbal stands and was concerned that they might mark the aluminium or even dent it... Amazing creation but not for me. Keep up the great work 👍 🎶 🥁
@chrispidgeonmusician3 ай бұрын
I think you are right on both counts - I wouldn’t hang anything more than a 10” and yeah the sleeves…. Next video is a direct comp of the Crosstown and the Tama Classic that I already reviewed. I have a soft spot for the Tama stuff somehow. I also have the 700 stuff - prob the best all round
@chinatype3 ай бұрын
I have the same kit and totally agree with most you’ve mentioned. I also have a Tama Starclassic Bubinga kit which is in a different league. That kit comes out for gigs or when I player heavier music. The Club Jam is so easy to cart around tho and with decent heads on sounds great.
@chrispidgeonmusician3 ай бұрын
Cool, thanks for watching. I’ll get around to reviewing my Starclassic soon. TBH I don’t much use the Club Jam these days - the Starclassic kick is 20/14 deep so almost as compact as the Club Jam

Roughly and from memory - mixer about £70, few cables. The most expensive are the moulded earphones at £400. The Shure Se215 about £90?

If you do want something light and portable go for Club Jam Pancake. You get the most portable option ever. With a bit of play around the tuning and changing the heads, you can get this thing sound really good
