I can’t believe I am having to tell you this is a handyman and not a plumber that you are not supposed to put pipe dope or Teflon on the ferrule (brass ring) this is coming straight from the manufacturer, you can see in the brass craft manual and videos. You’re obviously a great plumber, but that step you’re taking is not helpful and it could even be harmful in the long run . Anyone who watches this video looking to DIY your own plumbing remember to consult with the manufacturing instructions and not just follow what everyone else does, even if they are 99% correct .

Thought this was working great until someone flushed the toilet while I was showering. Instead of just a low flow out of the shower for 30 seconds, THE VALVE SHUTS OFF. Yup, you can't shower until the toilet fills, and then you have to pull the knob again. Same when the washing machine draws water. If your water pressure isn't the best, do not get this. Or be prepared to insert something to block the knob from retracting.

I have a question if you don’t mind. How do you fit a 3/8 “ flare into a 3/8 FIP . I would think I would need a 3/8 FIP that has a flare inside of it.

Is it possible to change de angle of the valve, just to loose the nut of the compression valve,turn the valve of 90 Degres and tighten the nut with the same sleeve? Is it dangerous to leak?

Surprised it worked. I was expecting the valve to shoot off under pressure. Sanded the inlet pipe with 80 grit until it shined. Ensured the pipe was as round as could be. Pushed in the valve until it stopped around an inch. Weird that it spins but it works. No leaks.

These things are trash. Do not buy. Did a whole project, kitchen and two bathrooms. Did a pressure test and all six failed horribly. Water was everywhere causing me more work to do. I'm sorry i wasted my time buying these. I would not recommend even if they were free.

What is the copper connector called? The connector that has one end male thread connected to the corrugated pipe, the other end crimped to 3/4" PEX. I searched hard online but could not find it.

The water heater generally will have a three-quarter male thread on it. If it does not then you will need a three-quarter MPT or male pipe thread nipple. The copper or corrugated connection would then go with its female three-quarter and onto the three-quarter pipe nipple that you installed . On the other end of the hot water heater connector, you would have a three-quarter female or FPT. So you would need a three-quarter inch PEX MPT connector. You can also use a "sharkbite" Max 3/4 in. Push-to-Connect x MIP Brass Adapter Fitting Since it's 2024 and this video was 10 years ago. And, if this guy knew anything about plumbing, he would not put a single wrench onto the nipple coming out of the hot water heater. There is a good chance when you're tightening that that you could put torque onto the nipple coming out of the hot water heater and end up breaking that nipple off right at the top of the hot water heater, destroying the entire hot water heater so with that said get yourself two wrenches a pipe wrench so that you can hold the nipple coming out of the tank while you use another pair of pliers or a wrench to tighten the connector going onto it...

Sadly your video is SHIT. SLOWLY SHOW HOW the strap is fed through the WRENCH! I have a strap wrench, purchased new from a store, looks exactly like yours. It's a cast iron wrench with a 15" long strap that is not attached to or sewn to the iron part. No matter how I try to use it, the strap simply slips on the pipe and is COMPLETELY useless. It's a worthless POS. Maybe the wrong material was used on this 'strap wrench'? I don't know, but I DO know the only wrench what actually WORKS on pipe is a standard pipe wrench, which damages the surface of the pipe, but at least it gets the pipe TIGHT.

i have installed the new shut off and it still leaks. after i tighten the unit i can with a litle force pull the whole unit right off. yes everything is the right size. i have tried the seal tape to help still no success. Any ideas how to fix??? thanks for any help!!!
