Great video! I watched at least one edition of Lilla Melodifestivalen back in the day, but I always preferred JESC. Already at that time I was into music and songwriting, but I couldn't be arsed to submit anything to Lilla Melodifestivalen for whatever reason. In retrospect, those earlier editions were better than the 2012-14 reboot. I remember finding the 2003 edition on SVT's Open Archive some years ago and hearing the host describe the contestants as "future stars", when in reality nobody ever got anywhere. Some big record producer wanted to sign the winners of the 2004 edition, but backed out later (I assume after their poor performance at JESC). Molly Sandén (2006) and to a lesser extent Erik Rapp (2011) can be considered exceptions in terms of success post-JESC. I remember when SVT pulled out for a few years and then EBU member TV4 stepped in with the show Stage Junior, which was a saving grace. While the fact that it was on a commercial channel meant that some of the green room footage from JESC went unaired here, I was still happy to be able to see the contest. I was very pissed when we didn't participate in 2008 due to a schedule clash, and then when we returned in 2009 there was an internal selection that I wasn't aware of, and so I missed my last chance to take part. Little me thought there was no way I was going to take part in MGP Nordic haha! One note about SVT airing Lilla Melodifestivalen on their children's channel (SVT Barn): it's not because they didn't take it seriously (that said, I agree with you that they didn't take it seriously), but because SVT has a policy to air children's content on SVT Barn. The switch happened in 2008. The 2010 edition was aired on SVT24, a channel that mainly airs reruns of shows from SVT1 and SVT2, for some reason, however, before moving to SVT Barn the year after. I for one hope that Hello Mello can be the first step in returning to JESC!

United by music, divided by the EBU... And a disqualification! Never happened before in the 67 years of the ESC! The terrible decisions of the EBU have made the ESC even more unsafe. They could have said to Israël: concerning the highly inflammable situation we deeme it wise not to allow Israël to participate. They would'nt be disqualified. They would just have to skip a year. By allowing Israël to participate this year, you get a whole bunch of Islamists (extreme Islamic people) to 'want revenge'. I don't see how this contest can survive. Their will have to be major, major security from now on to prevent a terrorists attack. I think the ESC is dead in the water.

One thing is for sure - Martin Österdahl can not and should not continue being the Executive Supervisor of the ESC. The whole mess and the fallout of it falls on his shoulders and I'd suspect that he'd be either be removed from his position or step down on his own volition. But guess the 2025 edition would be more of the same

mgp nordic is an interesting format but it is likely that it won't come back, honestly it feels like it would be more realistic seeing the nordics return to jesc than mgp being brought back at this point 2014 would've been the last year that mgp nordic could've taken place, this hypothetical mgp would've featured the songs ta min hand, du ser den anden vej, #online and the previously mentioned jesc entry du är inte ensam (on top of the runner ups which i couldn't find for yle melodi grand prix and straight up wasn't revealed for lilla melodifestivalen) it's a very interesting format though, kinda curious how an adult mgp nordic format would be like Also it's funny how denmark left junior Eurovision as they wanted the contest to be more child friendly and thus removed leds and had child friendly hosts when next junior eurovision in bucharest reduced leds massively and was hosted by a little girl with assistance from an adult just there for the boring bits and literally dracula

I think the reason why Russia was banned (as it should have been) and Isreal wasn't, is also because of racism. And because broadcasters didn't push the EBU enough to ban Israel. And as you remember, initially, the EBU wanted Russia to compete in 22, but multiple broadcasters and artists pushed them hard enough to ban them. Maybe killing brown people isn't as much of a big deal as killing white Ukrainians for the same broadcasters, so they didn't push hard enough. Of course, Islamophobia might be praying a role as well. And yes, both countries, or actually any country committing war crimes shouldn't be allowed to participate in this contest. Period. But it didn't end with that, they wanted to compete with a propaganda song, and then, ads to vote for her song showed up everywhere and multiple right-wing politicians urged their supporters to vote for Israel. They came so far in the televote because of people who're not even watching the contest. Her performance isn't among the 10 most watched on KZbin, neither is she in the Top 10 on Spotify or in the charts, songs who wrre behind her in the televoting seem to be more successful. Oh, and don't forget that the Israeli delegation was harassing journalists and other contestants and their commentators made some derogatory comments about left-wing and lgtbqia artists like Bambie Thug. I don't think, it was a good idea not to exclude Israel. And hadn't Russia been banned we probably would have heard the same stories. I hope that Israel isn't gonna participate next year.

Ofcoarse she refused to talk about it with Joost, because her purpose was, set Joost to be disqualified for doing nothing. Thanks for acting up. Many dreams have been destroyed this year. And the most shocking thing to me is that the producers and EBU actually continue to glorify what they have accomplished. That there’s actually no feeling with what the audience and artists experienced, is a big exlamation mark that this process is painfull and that they rather kill the event further than admit that they did terrible stuff this year especially. Cool that you found that the nails from Portugal are not from the final performance. Which shows that the EBU actually lies. And Joost is not in the gallery of the opening. These are signs that we’re dealing with a very toxic organization that rather morphs the reality to something that makes them look better than they are. Bad! Sweden, SVT and EBU need to step away from this behavior, otherwise they endorse it. Unforgettable.

My 2 cents. I do think the EBU has fault here - but not for the reason many people think. I think the EBU's issue is that it's trying to find a middle ground every time and still bearing the brunt of anger from all sides. Also, and this is something that has been building up for many years, the fandom has been making Eurovision toxic. We have got to a point where the fandom already picks a pool of winners far in advance, creating a lot of hype around them, after which one of them is anointed. It is not as unpredictable as it used to be. I used to love Eurovision, it was my appointment every year. This year was the first time I gave it a miss in many many years. The toxicity, and the feeling that it is not a fair competition that gives a fair playing field to all participants, has skyrocketed. This year it was further exacerbated by ugly antisemitism. Being a Jew-hater has become cool, the Nazis would be very proud.

To be honest I didn't think it was the best staging this year, neither the television production. Also Switserland won in 2021 the juries haha.... have you forgot that. He was also very high in 2020 but the Eurovision was cancelled. Jon's Tears was one of my favorites.

There is nothing fault with ESC - EBU. The world itself has the problem. Just imagine, if there were no war and no crisis... The contest would not face any of those problems and all the participants would be happy to meet each other and would enjoy audience's applause. The world is very angry and one can sense it everywhere, this is not the time to enjoy shows without dealing with all that anger.

I really wish that every year the winner can stop getting harassed on social media after their win, I'm still a new fan but I kinda want to leave the fandom because I am disgusted by the transphobia and homophobia being targeted at Nemo, just because they won and Croatia didn't, this happened last year with Loreen and also 2022 with Ukraine. It's so toxic and really upsetting, we should be celebrating Nemo's win, I plan to continue to support and stream all the artists this year because they deserve it so much and it's not fair they had such a messy year. I don't know if I'll watch next year but I will continue to support artists ❤

Actually 06 and 07, but also the junior eurovison of 04, is on nrks streaming platform. And of course alle the local shows too. I dont know if its available outside of norway, but you can use a vpn I guess. Nrk is great at archiving old stuff, so there is a lot of other old norwegian shows and such on there too. And its all free too becuse its funded by our taxes. But I hope that they will add the rest of the mgp nordics. And at least the junior eurovisons that we participated in, as it would make sense.

The country that recorded 1969 in colour was Norway, which was weird considering they came dead last. I heard that Spain wanted to archive their show in colour despite not showing it in colour. The issue was the technology sending it to TVs, not the technology sending it, so I've heard that Spain wanted to archive it in colour but the technology required didn't arrive in time.

Oh how I wish 1964 is out there somewhere. I'm hopeful that someone unfamiliar with the recording's significance has it stashed away, just waiting to be found in the future.

Ay elsker at se andre danskere lave eurovision content! Totalt random ide som jeg virkeligt føler mangler på internettet: en video om alle de fejl der var i DMGP både i år og sidste år. Føler ikke at nogle internationale fans ved omfanget af tekniske ting, nip-slips, protester, grafik der afslørede hvem der gik videre til superfinalen lang før værterne sagde det etc. 😅 But keep it up!
