i wish i could erase the drums and the synths of my kp3. i recently spent a lot of money on a screen, but then both jacks doesn't work. only the RCA which has lower volume. i gotta check out if the issues are the jacks ( easier fix) or something in the circuit. i am excited for the new versions of kaos pad in a diy kit, i am considering getting 2 units because we have 2 hands. and i used to play the electric guitar with the kp3 on the floor, using the barefooted left foot thumb, left because won't move the guitar's body. when mixing 2 effects at once you get even more expression and uniqueness. my plan is to use them into the kontakt, the virtual instruments. for the midi piano arcade buttons that i must rebuild. i am going to double my equipment. first i will purchuase this same old friend my yamaha mw12 mixer which has been with me almost 2 decades. it is the father of the music recording home studio because it was the pioneer having usb port. besides that my w10 will be no longer supported in a year from now so this computer will never be plugged to the internet but will become only the motor of my piano, reason why to have its own computer, its own mixer, its own amplifier, it's own speakers. real autonomy. a machine that nobody remotely will be able to send a self destruction software with bad updates programmed obsolence. then the other modern computer will transfer indirectly and safely through external hardrives whatever new plugins and instruments the future will bring us, preserving lifelong the old computer. i might use the new computer for the daw and the old computer just for the piano, or double daw, so i have 2 outputs. this interface has only one output cannot record multichannel. but i am a loner so i just can play 2 things at once. singing and a instrument so this is my plan. people cannot understand that this multieffect with touch screen predates a decade the telephones with touch screen. if as a guitar player i always prefered the wah ( expression) style pedals for the added expressivity, this screen was a game changer. and i was playing guitar with that way before muse's matt bellamy installed something similar built in his guitar. i also played the minikp2 on electric guitar while walking in the park and i amazed many kids. it was futoristic and cool, but too fragile and the batteries didn't last 1.5 hours. but again the synth presets were annoying also in the mini kp2. as i was improvising and changing effects randomly then a mistake when landing on the synth, and the audience always disliked it was ridicule. i am wondering if the new kaoss can be reprogrammed without the drum loops and synths. they are completely unnecesary and annoying.

@@MidnightatMidian in less words. i think 2 units of Korg Nu:Tekt NTS-3 is going to add expressivity to my arcade 88 midi piano for the kontakt that i've been hoarding 23 teras of timbre variety, way better than when i used to just play guitar with a kaoss pad 3.

Figuring out cables and wires almost had me quit before i even got started haha Great video too, was cool to see you manipulate that sample too and you turned it to somethin magic by the end! I think maybe I saw it on one of your videos before but have you ever recorded a sound on the kaoss pad and kept stacking effects and rerecording with more effects? Oh yea resampling with effects just checked and found it quite easy haha, you always do some nice work with samples and for this one to be so random and turn into what you got it to was awesome to watch 👌👏

I'm a Slate subscriber since day one, I have perpetual licenses for VTM, Repeater and Trigger 2. I'm also thinking about pausing my subscription, to this point I paid them almost $ 2k and the only time they really gave something back was a Repeater license, if only they gave us a perpetual license every two years or something I could own the few ones I really love. It's still the best subscription one can get nowadays in my opinion (Plugin Alliance is also very good but Slate sounds better), but I have accumulated so many plugins over the last 20 years that I don't know if I still need it. The same way I decided to quit Waves, I will not pay to update plugins that are actually the exactly same thing I was using in my old machine, there's no point in that. Rent-to-own is now a reality, so we can own what we pay for in a couple of years or less.

I really love to use the KP3 as a multi effect LIVE tool (probably I bought it 2011 or 12). We play electronic music in Munich once a month at AMBIOSONICS and our visitors get really close, so I love to use the KP3 on percussion and drums - filtering, delaying, crushing and especially the pad motion make it also interesting to watch it for the public. Like my Moog Theremini - great for some improvisation and still people are fascinated that you never touch it 🙂

hello! I was wondering if there is a way to trigger a short sample and not have it loop. I'm working on a live set and want my korg KP3 to play a 3 second sample and stop on it's own, so I don't have to click it twice to start and stop it, is this possible?
@OffShiftProductions
@OffShiftProductions Ай бұрын
I was curious so I looked in to this. If you record a sample in to a sample bank, and press the pad again before it's gone through the whole loop, it'll record it as a one-shot. Meaning it will only play once when you hit it. If you want it to play the whole sample without having to hold the pad down, do SHIFT+[sample bank pad] and make sure 3. r. - is enabled.
@KaylahBell

@@OffShiftProductions Thank you for you looking into that, I was able to get the one shot to work! Now that I have you here I had one more question if you don't mind. I was trying to get the different sample trigger options like you show in this video but for some reason my machine isn't yielding the same results. I noted that when you turn your KP3 on it reads "FLT.1" and mine is reading something different, mine reads "nod.3". and when I hit shift and the sample bank together to change the sample trigger option I get two flashing "0.0" and when I turn the program knob it only changes the second number which doesn't change anything...do you have any tips how can get the same trigger options as you are getting?

Ive never used pedals always been kinda interested but such an amateur and have decided to quit spending $ and be happy with what ive got for a bit haha Also always saw the kp3 as a kinda pedal substitute, what would you say about that? Or i guess how close would that be to how you'd describe the kaoss pad? Also I don't think you're too old to be a pro musician especially like with the talent on display every time you make some music. I think the path there is near impossible but you've definitely got the talent for it imho The glitchy-ness caused by that pedal sounds great too, the night sky adds such a nice atmosphere to it! Real chill demo work too 👌🔥👏

Hi. I just get an "timeout" error message when I try to transmit via the kp3editor. Any help? Also, any advice for setting it up to use the touchpad as a x-y controller for a vst/auto filter in ableton? I wanna be able to map the one axis to filter cut off for example and the other axis for resonance. But i cant get this to work. I have it set up with old fashion midi cables to my interface. Still no success.

Tough to diagnose without seeing your specific set up. But here are a couple things that caused similar issues for me in the past: MIDI cables were connected wrong (out was going to out and in was going to in) Make sure you have the latest driver installed. I don't know if they have one for mac but here's the links to the downloads. www.korg.com/us/support/download/product/1/118/

I'm the same with creation and I have started the path of mixing and mastering as a means to turn audio into the business. Then any music myself is and will be a hobby that will have some element of business but more so like odd freelance projects. Selling a tune for others to use as video background music and then a free resource of music for my own. Family time is the most important thing and currently haver to have a day job myself and don't mind just doing that at all... so pretty much the same. I am so glad they made a Kaoss Plugin as I have loved the Kaoss Pad for creating transitions in beats. The problem with using one for this is you are kind of sacrificing quality, flexibility after it's recorded, and again you'd need multiple to effect multiple signals and so love the plugin. It's not quite a organic but vastly more unlimited in practical use in a full production. Love you using the Ottobit, really want one for making sampling more gritty and old sounding. Hardware I have found always to be much much more fun and enjoyable but a nightmare in complete production lol.

Yeah I hear you about using plugins. I'm starting to like hardware more and more because it forces me to commit to something. With plugins I always find myself going back and tweaking things when I should just be done with something. I haven't checked out the plugin version of the Kaossilator. I need to take a look at that!

Great guide. I have the KP2 and just recently started experimenting with intergrading it into my effects chain. The only thing I have to change from your guide is that my amps do not have an FX Loop so I just go to the front of the amp. I just mitigate the signal degradation through a buffer.

One use is pairing it with a sampler-sequencer as a sample pre-processing effect looper. The SmplTrek, for example, isn't super powerful when it comes to effects, so pairing that with a KP3 to mess up the samples before sampling and chopping them up makes for a pretty strong duo. I have two KP3's (one fell on the floor and got noisy and a weird graphical glitch) and a KP3+. What I like about the KP3+ is it has some scratching capability, which the KP3 did not. That makes the + particularly useful for live looping when you just quickly wanna scratch a custom sound without going through a whole process on another device. There are certainly better devices for scratching, but not a lot of devices I know of can immediately scratch what came through the input a second ago. There's the Tweakalizer, but I have one of those too and it just randomly decided to stop working for no apparent reason (that's Behringer for you, I guess).
